Syntactic complexity in individual, collaborative and E-collaborative EFL writing: mediating role of writing modality, L1 and Sustained Development in focus
Educational Technology Research and Development, 2020Co-Authors: Zohre Mohamadi ZenouzaghAbstract:This study investigates the potential of individual, collaborative, and E-collaborative writing modalities on the Development of syntactic complexity (SC), their Sustained effect on SC Development, and the potential meditating role of SC of L1 (First Language) in SC of L2 (Second Language). To this end, 90 Iranian intermediate EFL learners participated in individual, collaborative, and E-collaborative writing treatments for 10 sessions. L2 SC on three measures of pre, post, and delayed posttests in three writing modalities were assessed using multidimensional SC measures. Besides, the role of L1 syntactic complexity preferences in L2 SC was examined. The results of ANOVA (analysis of variance) and Repeated Measure ANOVA indicated that individual writing had the highest potential in developing SC of L2 in comparison with other writing modalities. As far as sustainable Development is concerned, only the effect of collaborative writing was Sustained in delayed posttest. Regression through mediation analysis indicated that the degree of syntactic complexity in L1 significantly mediated L2 SC under individual writing and its mediating effect faded away in collaborative and E-collaborative writing. Analysis of students' perceived efficacy of writing modalities through theme elicitation analysis of students' reflective essay suggests that the centrality of the role of instructors, group leadership and environmental supports in computer mediated learning need to be revisited. Implications and future research directions were discussed.

medicinal plant diversity in the flora of saudi arabia 1 a report on seven plant families
Fitoterapia, 2004Co-Authors: Atiqur M Rahman, Jaber S Mossa, Mansour S Alsaid, Mohammed A AlyahyaAbstract:A preliminary survey on the medicinal plant diversity in the flora of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been made with seven families: Amaranthaceae, Apocynaceae, Capparidaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Labiatae, Polygonaceae and Solanaceae, as an initial study. These families are represented in the flora with 254 species (i.e. 12% of the total species), and individually with 21, 7, 29, 66, 76, 22 and 33 species, respectively. Of these, 86 species, so far investigated, are medicinal, distributed in these seven families as follows: 7, 5, 12, 20, 23, 7 and 12, respectively. The Labiatae have the highest number (23) of medicinal plants among them while maximum medicinal plant diversity within the family has been observed with the Apocynaceae. An enumeration of these 86 medicinal species is presented with the current nomenclature, Arabic names and medicinal uses. This communication aims at emphasizing the importance of setting up conservation priorities, and Sustained Development of various medicinal plants of Saudi Arabia.

competency Development in public health leadership
American Journal of Public Health, 2000Co-Authors: Kathleen S Wright, Louis Rowitz, Agnes Merkle, David G. Carmichael, T R Balderson, G. Robinson, B. Herzog, D Weber, W. M. Reid, Edward L BakerAbstract:: The professional Development of public health leaders requires competency-based instruction to increase their ability to address complex and changing demands for critical services. This article reviews the Development of the Leadership Competency Framework by the National Public Health Leadership Development Network and discusses its significance. After reviewing pertinent literature and existing practice-based competency frameworks, network members developed the framework through sequential use of workgroup assignments and nominal group process. The framework is being used by network members to develop and refine program competency lists and content; to compare programs; to develop needs assessments, baseline measures, and performance standards; and to evaluate educational outcomes. It is a working document, to be continually refined and evaluated to ensure its continued relevance to performance in practice. Understanding both the applications and the limits of competency frameworks is important in individual, program, and organizational assessment. Benefits of using defined competencies in designing leadership programs include the integrated and Sustained Development of leadership capacity and the use of technology for increased access and quality control.

telemedicine a new health care delivery system
Annual Review of Public Health, 2000Co-Authors: Rashid L Bashshur, Timothy G Reardon, Gary W ShannonAbstract:▪ Abstract The resurgence of telemedicine can be attributed to its potential for addressing intransigent problems in health care, including limited accessibility, cost inflation, and uneven quality. After discussing definitions and the genesis of telemedicine, this review focuses on conceptual issues and an assessment of past research. The scope and methodological rigor necessary for Sustained Development and policy making have been limited in this area of research, owing to the nature of extant telemedicine projects and the lack of a comprehensive research strategy that specifies the objectives of telemedicine research regarding accessibility, cost, and quality. Research strategies and a framework for analysis are discussed. Without a commitment to the types of research objectives, framework, and strategy presented here, the considerable promise of telemedicine, as an innovative system of care, may not be fully realized.
