responding to negative online reviews the effects of hotel responses on customer inferences of trust and concern
Tourism Management, 2016Co-Authors: Beverley Sparks, Kevin Kam Fung So, Graham Leslie BradleyAbstract:Our research examines the perceptions and evaluations of prospective customers toward an online negative review and any accompanying hotel response. The study explores two main issues: whether the presence (versus absence) of an organizational response to negative customer reviews affects the inferences potential consumers draw about the Target Business, and which aspects of responses affect their impressions. We test the effects of four variables associated with a response: source of response, voice of responder, speed of response, and action frame on two outcomes variables (i.e., customer concern and trust inferences). The provision of an online response (versus no response) enhanced inferences that potential consumers draw regarding the Business's trustworthiness and the extent to which it cares about its customers. Using a human voice and a timely response yielded favorable customer inferences. Inferences did not vary with response source or action frame. Implications are drawn for effective management of negative online reviews.

These projects are usually temporary, highly mobile and geographically distributed Business organizations with common work processes that require close interaction between multiple users and Business partners. The analysis starts with characterization of user behaviour, user environments and project organizations. Communication and mobility in construction projects are described and possible services and Business roles are proposed. Examples of candidates to take these Business roles are discussed based on capabilities and incentives of these companies.

Criminal organizations, nation-state adversaries, hacktavists, and numerous other threat actors continuously Target Business, government, and even critical infrastructure networks. Estimated losses from cyber crime and cyber espionage amount to hundreds of billions annually [4]. The need to build, maintain, and defend computing resources is greater than ever before. A novel approach to closing the cybersecurity workforce gap is to develop cutting-edge cybersecurity video games that (1) grab the attention of young adults, (2) build a solid foundation of information security knowledge and skills, (3) inform players of potential career paths, and (4) establish a passion that drives them through higher education and professional growth. Although some video games and other games do exist, no viable options are available that Target high-school-age students and young adults that supply both a quality gaming experience and foster the gain of key cybersecurity knowledge and skills. Given the Department of Defense's success with simulations and gaming technology, its sponsorship of a cybersecurity video game could prove extremely valuable in addressing the current and future needs for our next generation cyber warriors.
