  • Evaluation and improvement of an autonomous access technique for a digital cordless Telephone System
[1991 Proceedings] 41st IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference, 1991
    Co-Authors: P. Okrah
    Abstract:

The author discusses the performance of an access technique in a digital cordless Telephone System, often known as CT2 or telepoint. A telepoint System environment is simulated assuming typical fading statistics, and factors affecting access performance are examined. Due to contention among base stations, overall performance with spatially random access attempts is found to be very poor. Two modified access approaches, that can be used (while maintaining independence of ports' response) individually or in combination to significantly improve performance, are proposed. The first approach is to allow the ports to select random time windows (or preassign the ports in time windows); the second is to retry access in case of a failed attempt. Using the two in combination virtually assures capture in no more than two access attempts for any reasonable number of ports. Hence, the inclusion of time windows in the System design may be a necessary option.

  • Railway Freight Dispatching Telephone System Based on VoIP in Wireless Networks
Proceedings of the 2014 International Conference on Computer Communications and Information Technology, 2014
    Co-Authors: Jun Xiao
    Abstract:

Railway freight dispatching Telephone System is a kind of railway dispatching Telephone Systems, providing freight coordinating communication service. It requires high transmission data rate, high interactivity and customizable service in a high mobility environment. VoIP in wireless networks is a promising technology. It is significant to design a railway freight dispatching Telephone System based on VoIP in wireless networks (IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.16). This paper analyzes the requirements of VoIP- based railway freight dispatching Telephone System, proposes VoIP architecture for railway freight dispatching Telephone System, analyzes the QoS performance of VoIP-based railway freight dispatching Telephone System, and deployed experiments on a 20km railway freight line testbed. Index Terms - Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), Worldwide Interoperability For Microwave Access (WiMAX), Quality Of Service (QoS), Railway Freighting Dispatching Telephone System, VoIP.

  • VoIP over WiMAX for railway freight dispatching Telephone System
Proceeding of the International Conference on e-Education Entertainment and e-Management, 2011
    Co-Authors: Jun Xiao
    Abstract:

VoIP and WiMAX are promising technologies. Railway freight dispatching needs an efficient dispatching Telephone System. VoIP and WiMAX can provide various service and low cost for railway freight dispatching Telephone System. This paper has analyzed the requirements for VoIP over WiMAX, proposed VoIP architecture for railway freight dispatching Telephone System, deployed a testbed on a 20km railway freight line, and implemented performance analysis of VoIP-based railway freight dispatching Telephone System.

  • Concept of a sophisticated metropolitan expressway Telephone System
Proceedings of Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 1997
    Co-Authors: J. Miyaoka, T. Inobe, C Arimitsu
    Abstract:

The Metropolitan Expressway Public Corporation has studied the establishment of a new Telephone System which receives the designation of an origin (entrance) and destination (exit point) by a user through a Telephone and provides information only related to the zone that the driver will actually use. A simulation was then developed to compare the new System to the one in current use in terms of the contents of information provided. The results show the new System gives drivers almost 100% of what they need, while the current System has an average of almost 80%.

  • THE METROPOLITAN EXPRESSWAY Telephone System
Eighth International Conference on Road Traffic Monitoring and Control, 1996
    Co-Authors: K Honda, S Otsubo, C Arimitsu
    Abstract:

The Metropolitan Expressway Telephone System has been designed by the Metropolitan Expressway Public Corporation to meet diversified user's requirements. This System, supplementing conventional traffic information, automatically offers realtime information on the Metropolitan Expressway (and updates them every five minutes) in an easily understandable manner, according to the user's designation of the route number through Telephone push-buttons.

  • A business cordless PABX Telephone System on 800 MHz based on the DECT technology
    IEEE Communications Magazine, 1991
    Co-Authors: C. Buckingham, G.k. Wolterink, D. Akerberg
    Abstract:

In January 1988, The European Conference of Postal and Telecommunication administrations (CEPT) decided to base the standard for medium and long-term applications of advanced digital European cordless telecommunications (DECT) on a multicarrier/time-division-multiple-access/time-division-duplex (MC/TDMA/TDD) approach. The Ericsson DCT 900 MC/TDMA/TDD pico cellular cordless Telephone System concept is presented. It is a DECT-like System with limited data services operating up to 8 MHz in the 860 to 870 MHz frequency band, but it can be implemented anywhere in the 800 to 900 MHz bands. A description of the DCT 900 System and the cordless radio subSystem is included.
