In our proposed approach, users draw each digit of the Password on the touchscreen of the device instead of typing them as usual. This way the security of the authentication system increases as impostors need more than the Traditional Password to get access to the system. BioTouchPass achieves results with Equal Error Rates (EERs) ca. 4.0% when the attacker knows the Password, outperforming other authentication schemes based on touch biometrics, and providing a user-friendly interface easily adaptable to a variety of mobile devices and application scenarios.

In this decade, single Password authentication (SPA) schemes are introduced to overcome the challenges of Traditional Password authentication, which is vulnerable to the offline dictionary, phishing, honeypot, and man-in-the-middle attacks. Unlike classical Password-based authentication systems, in SPA schemes the user is required to remember only a single Password (and a username) for all her accounts, while the Password is protected against the aforementioned attacks in a provably secure manner.

Hardware implementation of the fuzzy fingerprint vault system

Biometrics-based user authentication has several advantages over Traditional Password-based systems for standalone authentication applications. However, security of biometric data is particularly important as the compromise of the data will be permanent. In this paper, we explain the fuzzy fingerprint vault system combining geometric hashing-based fingerprint authentication and fuzzy vault to protect fingerprint templates. Also, we propose the FPGA-based fuzzy fingerprint vault system for real-time processing.

VLSI implementation of the fuzzy fingerprint vault system

The fingerprint is evaluated as the most realistic alternative up to the present time in the perspectives of availability, accuracy and economy. However, serious problems may cause if fingerprint information stored for user authentication is used illegally by a different person since it cannot be changed freely as a Password due to a limited number of fingers. Recently, research in fuzzy fingerprint vault system has been carried out actively to safely protect fingerprint information in a fingerprint authentication system. In this paper, we propose the FPGA-based fuzzy fingerprint vault system for real-time processing. Based on the experimental results, we confirmed that the proposed system takes 0.53 second with 36 real minutiae and 400 chaff minutiae.

However, security of biometric data is particularly important as the compromise of the data will be permanent. In this paper, we explain the fuzzy fingerprint vault system combining geometric hashing-based fingerprint authentication and fuzzy vault to protect fingerprint templates. Also, we propose the FPGA-based fuzzy fingerprint vault system for real-time processing. Based on the experimental results, we confirmed that the proposed system takes 0.11(0.51) second with 29 real minutiae and 100(400) chaff minutiae.
