absorptive capacity its determinants and influence on innovation output cross cultural validation of the structural model
Technovation, 2009Co-Authors: Nika Murovec, Igor ProdanAbstract:Abstract The main purpose of this study is to provide stronger quantitative evidence in the field of organizational absorptive capacity research by using a more direct measure of absorptive capacity and a wide range of variables in a cross-nationally tested structural model. The results show that there exist two kinds of absorptive capacity: demand-pull and science-push. Their most important determinants proved to be internal R&D, Training of Personnel, innovation co-operation and attitude toward change. Both kinds of absorptive capacity are positively related to product and process innovation output. Therefore, absorptive capacity is to be given more attention in the future research and innovation policy considerations.

rescue percutaneous coronary intervention after failed fibrinolytic therapy have expectations been met
American Heart Journal, 2006Co-Authors: David R Holmes, Bernard J. Gersh, Stephen G EllisAbstract:Background Reperfusion therapy for acute myocardial infarction has revolutionized modern cardiovascular care. Methods and Results Two strategies have been tested widely: fibrinolytic therapy and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Fibrinolytic therapy has the advantage that it can be given in many medical care institutions that do not have immediate access to catheterization laboratories. Unfortunately, in a substantial number of patients, fibrinolytic therapy may not achieve optimal results, and a strategy of rescue or salvage PCI may be undertaken. There is a relative paucity of evidence-based outcomes on which to judge the merits of rescue PCI, although the volume is increasing. Conclusions At present, several recommendations can be offered: (1) implementation of a policy of rescue PCI requires clear guidelines of patient selection, Training of Personnel, logistics of patient movement, and outcomes assessment; and (2) there needs to be heightened awareness with a high index of suspicion about the potential failure of fibrinolytic therapy.

adopting and implementing advanced manufacturing technology new data on key factors from the aeronautical industry
International Journal of Production Research, 2004Co-Authors: Jose Antonio Dominguez Machuca, Sacristan M DiazAbstract:The objective of this paper is to take a greater in-depth look at which factors might be considered to be key to the performance of investments made in advanced manufacturing technologies (AMT), given their supposed positive effects, and on the influence that the time these factors are taken into account during the adoption and implementation process can have on that relationship. It provides a specially devised empirical analysis in the aeronautical sector in the south of Spain. A survey of the 20 plants in the population was conducted via a postal questionnaire between July 1999 and April 2001, with a structured interview being held at a later date. The testing of hypotheses was performed by applying the t-test to independent samples. The results show that the only factor that has a clear and positive effect on performance is the Training of Personnel. It can also be seen that a lack of strategic planning contributes to dampening the effects of investments. These results may be of some help to managemen...
