Arylation and vinylation of alkenes based on unusual sequential semipinacol rearrangement/Grob fragmentation of allylic alcohols.
The Journal of organic chemistry, 2008Co-Authors: Dao‐yi Yuan, Chun-an FanAbstract:Alkenes can be stereoselectively arylated and vinylated without Transition-Metal Catalyst under mild conditions through an interesting NBS-promoted semipinacol rearrangement and a subsequent unusual NaOH-mediated Grob fragmentation.

Rapid and efficient microwave-assisted amination of electron-rich aryl halides without a Transition-Metal Catalyst.
Organic letters, 2003Co-Authors: Lei Shi, Chun-an Fan, Min Wang, Fu-min ZhangAbstract:[reaction: see text] A rapid and direct amination of aryl halides has been developed in good to high yields under microwave irradiation without a Transition-Metal Catalyst. This reaction is a particularly powerful method for the coupling of electron-rich aryl halides with various amines. In some cases, the excellent regioselectivity could be observed, which facilitated the preparation of meta-substituted anilines from ortho- or para-substituted phenylhalides. In addition, a mechanism via the interesting benzyne intermediate has been proposed.

ring contraction disproportionation spirocyclization cascade reaction of isochromeno 4 3 b indol 5 11h ones synthesis of n unsubstituted spirocycles
Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2016Co-Authors: Xiang Zhang, Daisy Zhangnegrerie, Guangshuai Zhou, Yunfei Du, Kang ZhaoAbstract:An efficient ring-contraction reaction of isochromeno[4,3-b]indol-5(11H)-ones via a nucleophile-induced disproportionation/spirocyclization cascade process has been developed under mild conditions. The process realized the conversion of isochromeno[4,3-b]indol-5(11H)-ones into N-unsubstituted spiro[indoline-2,1′-isobenzofuran]-3,3′-diones and spiro[indoline-2,1′-isoindoline]-3,3′-diones in the absence of a Transition-Metal Catalyst or oxidant. Gram-scale reaction further demonstrated the practicability of the protocol.
