  • Clinical characteristic study of reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome
    China Practical Medicine, 2012
    Co-Authors: Hen Yon
    Abstract:

Objective To discuss the etiologies, clinical and imaging characters, and therapy of the reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome(PRLS) for improving the diagnosis accuracy and the treatment effect. Methods The etiologies, clinical manifestations, imaging characters, and treatment effect of 21 PRLS patients were retrospectively analyzed. Results Of the all 21 patients,6 were male and 15 were female. The associated diseases included eclampsia(4 cases),severe hypertension(7 cases),systemic lupus erythematosus and lupus nephrosis(5 cases),severe lung infection(3 cases),and tumor chemotherapy(2 cases).Acute onset, headache, vomit, epilepsy,Transitional Blindness were the main clinical manifestations. The abnormal signal in CT or MRI mainly located in the occipital lobe, partly located in the pariet al lobe and temporal lobe, little located in the white matter of frontal lobe, brain stem and cerebellum. The neural symptoms can rehabilitate in a short time by dehydration and cure of the basal diseases. Conclusion PRLS represents a spectrum of clinical syndrome with particular imaging characteristic, when combined with clinical manifestations and basal diseases,it can be diagnosed and cured early and has favorable prognosis.

  • Topical anesthesia for small incision extracapsular cataract extraction.
Chinese Journal of Ocular Trauma and Occupational Eye Disease, 2003
    Co-Authors: Ma Xian
    Abstract:

Objective To investigate and compare the safety and advantage of topical and retrobulbar anesthesia for small incision extracapsular cataract extraction (ECCE) .Methods Small incision ECCE and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation were performed in 46 bilateral cataract patients, took one eye' s operation under retrobulbar anesthesia, the other eye under topical anesthesia The complications and vision after operation were com- pared. Results The incidences of chemosis, eyelid swelled and eyelid hemorrhage were significantly higher in the control group than those in the the research group ( P 0.05). 1 eye(2.2% ) had retrobnular hemorrhage,2 eyes(4.3%) had Transitional Blindness in the control group, none of these complications occurred in the research group. The average time in researching-group needed in the operation on lowering intraocular tension is (3.51 ± 1.72) min,the average of controlled-group is (12.18 ± 4.12) min, the difference is significant (P 0.001). Vision of research group was higher than that of control group both 1st day and 3rd day after operation. Conclusion Topical anesthesia can be used safety and quickly for small incision ECCE with lesser complications, the recovery of vision after operation is quick.
