  • SimTecT/ISAGA - From Recreational to Clinical Approaches: The Use of the Cuatro Tribus Game-Based Workshop as a Complementary Tool for the Reintegration Treatment of Juvenile Offenders
Intersections in Simulation and Gaming, 2018
Co-Authors: Alfonso Atala-layun, Luis Duran, Annia Gutierrez, Rolando Hernandez, Carlos Pola, Miguel Polanco, Fernanda Santos
    Abstract:

Throughout December 2015 and July 2016 four Cuatro Tribus (‘Four Tribes’ - strategy board game) workshops were conducted in the Juvenile Detention Center in Puebla Mexico (CIEPA). Each workshop consisted of seven sessions and a final tournament session. The initial goal was to offer a new source of entertainment and cognitive development to interned juvenile offenders. The pilot workshop generated the impression that a systematic gathering of information from various observers could be integrated into a high definition criminological profile. A certified Cuatro Tribus’ coach facilitated three more workshops to 32 interned juveniles. Each participant’s behavior during the game was recorded by interdisciplinary specialists from the internment center, the Sentence and Measures Bureau and the General Office for Reintegration Centers. These records provided reliable information to make in situ interventions, evaluate the current lines of action for each intern and design new lines in favor of a more precise social reintegration. The materials used were four Cuatro Tribus board games and printed observation guides. At the end of the research, the program was considered to be a valid complementary tool for pedagogic and psychological reintegration treatment and continues to be applied at the Center. The participants’ results of the workshop were filed to be used as an additional element for the jury in charge of reviewing the sentences. Ethical considerations and possible observation biases require an insightful review.

  • A revised classification of the Apocynaceae s.l.
    The Botanical Review, 2000
    Co-Authors: Mary E. Endress, Peter V. Bruyns
    Abstract:

The Asclepiadaceae, as traditionally defined, have repeatedly been shown to be an apomorphic derivative of the Apocynaceae. It has often been recommended that the Asclepiadaceae be subsumed within the Apocynaceae in order to make the latter monophyletic. To date, however, no comprehensive, unified classification has been established. Here we provide a unified classification for the Apocynaceae, which consists of 424 genera distributed among five subfamilies: Rauvolfioideae, Apocynoideae, Periplocoideae, Secamonoideae, and Asclepiadoideae. Keys to the subfamilies and tribes are provided, with lists of genera that (as far as we have been able to ascertain) are recognized in each tribe.

  • Revision of the Proteaceae macrofossil record from Patagonia, Argentina
    The Botanical Review, 2007
Co-Authors: Cynthia C. Gonzalez, Maria A. Gandolfo, Maria C. Zamaloa, Nestor R. Cúneo, Peter Wilf, Kirk R. Johnson
    Abstract:

Proteaceae are restricted to the Southern Hemisphere, and of the seven tribes of the subfamily Grevilleoideae, only three (Macadamieae, Oriteae, and Embothrieae) have living members in Argentina. Megafossil genera of Proteaceae recorded from Patagonia include Lomatia, Embothrium, Orites , and Roupala . In this report, we evaluate and revise fossil Argentine Proteaceae on the basis of type material and new specimens. The new collections come from the Tufolitas Laguna del Hunco (early Eocene, Chubut Province), the Ventana (middle Eocene, Río Negro Province), and the Río Ñirihuau (late Oligocene-early Miocene, Río Negro Province) formations, Patagonia, Argentina. We confirm the presence of Lomatia preferruginea Berry, L. occidentalis (Berry) Frenguelli, L. patagonica Frenguelli, Roupala patagonica Durango de Cabrera et Romero, and Orites bivascularis Romero, Dibbern et Gandolfo. Fossils assigned to Embothrium precoccineum Berry and E. pregrandiflorum Berry are doubtful, and new material is necessary to confirm the presence of this genus in the fossil record of Patagonia. A putative new fossil species of Proteaceae is presented as Proteaceae gen. et sp. indet. Fossil Proteaceae are compared with modern genera, and an identification key for the fossil leaf species is presented. Doubtful historical records of Proteaceae fossils for the Antarctic Peninsula region and Patagonia are also discussed. Based on this revision, the three tribes of Proteaceae found today in Argentina were already present in Patagonia by the early Eocene, where they probably arrived via the Australia-Antarctica-South America connection.

  • Podalyrieae (Abb. 125)
    Chemotaxonomie der Pflanzen, 2001
    Co-Authors: Robert Hegnauer, Minie Hegnauer
    Abstract:

  • Crotalarieae (Abb. 127, 128)
    Chemotaxonomie der Pflanzen, 2001
    Co-Authors: Robert Hegnauer, Minie Hegnauer
    Abstract:

    Co-Authors: Robert Hegnauer, Minie Hegnauer
