  • River morphology study in sungai lembing due to impact of sedimentations and floods
    2016
Co-Authors: Nor Farahin, Muhammad Azman Shah
    Abstract:

A study on river morphology was conducted at Sg. Lembing, Kuantan, Pahang. The major contribution to the depositional process in the river is sediment which is composed by granular materials that have variety size and type. Excess sediment could cause the river level increase that can cause changes of the river morphology. This study focused on changes of river morphology by determine the point of the river that has major changes, sediment grain sizes and types, rainfall data and factors influencing sediment transportation. Three sampling stations have been chosen based on analysing the river changes between in year 2010 to 2015 by using google earth software. Started from upstream Sg. Lembing (Station 1), mid-stream Sg. Lembing (Station 2) and downstream Sg. Lembing (Station 3). Sampling data are collected in two day which is on 16 March 2016 and 23 March 2016. Sample of sediment for every station were sieved to get the sediment grain size. Sediment particles in every station were classified based from United State Army Corps Engineer table (USACE). The data from Department of Irrigation and Drainage and weather station 3930012 Sg. Lembing PCC Mill is used for analysed rainfall pattern. The rainfall data is collected from year 2008 to 2015 to identify the effect of the rainfall to the sediment transportation. Overall, the finding of the study show that the most size of sediment at Sg. Lembing between 2.360mm to 0.425mm. The minimum and maximum total yearly data is 1443mm and 3775.5mm at 2008 and 2011 respectively.

  • Medical Simulation Training of the United State Army
Medical & Pharmaceutical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army, 2013
    Co-Authors: Jiang He-sheng
    Abstract:

This article is based on literature analysis. The types of medical simulation include basic role-playing scenarios, the standardized patient, partial task, complex task and integrated simulators. The benefits of simulation lies in remission the lack of training resource, improving the patient safety, popularization innovative technologies, complement practical experiences and promoting teamwork. The characteristic of U.S.Army simulation is widespread application, playing emphasis on assessment of training effects, partnering with civilian institutions in pursuit of world-class simulation.

  • Security Assistance: U.S. and International Historical Perspectives
    2006
    Co-Authors: Kendall D. Gott, Michael G. Brooks
    Abstract:

Abstract : These proceedings are the fourth volume to be published in a series generated by the Combat Studies Institute's annual Military History Symposium, this year sponsored by the US Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC). The Annual Military History Symposiums provide a forum for the interchange of ideas on historical topics pertinent to the current doctrinal concerns of the United State Army. In pursuit of this goal the Combat Studies Institute brought together a diverse group of military personnel, government historians, and civilian academicians in a forum that promoted the exchange of ideas and information. This year's symposium, hosted by the Combat Studies Institute, was held 8-10 August 2006 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

  • An Historical Study: Gypsies of the Battlefield the CIDG Program in Vietnam and Its Evolutionary Impact
    1992
    Co-Authors: Lance E Booth
    Abstract:

Abstract : During the period from 1964 through 1971, the longest counterinsurgency/coalition warfare mission in the history of the United State Army was conducted by the 5th Special Forces Group, Airborne. This program was successful in preventing communist control of large portions of uncommitted indigenous ethnic groups and mobilizing these groups into the struggle for the survival of their country. This contribution equated to a 4 divisional force level which was cost effective and illustrated an economy of force model for future conflicts. Equally important were the lessons learned from the CIDG program which paid dividends during Coalition Warfare as executed during Desert Shield/Desert Storm by the United States Army Special Forces. This case study serves to document and analyze this long forgotten but strategically important achievement by the American Army during the Vietnam War.
