Proceedings of 2011 International Conference on Electronic & Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology, 2011Co-Authors: Yun Zhang, Yi ChenAbstract:In Enterprise Project Management, Workflow system can control and manage project process, help enterprise improving efficiency, reduce production cost, and improve enterprise's productivity and competitiveness. This paper designs and implements a workflow system for enterprise project management. The design and implementation technology of workflow system are described. The composition of workflow system has three Layers, which include User Interface Layer, workflow operation Layer and data management Layer. The system can fulfill the automatic control of project management and implement Multi-task display, process approval, task plan, task assignment and some related work about enterprise project management. Practice verified, the workflow system can be applied in enterprise project management stably and safely.

A process-oriented configurable workflow system model for cooperative project management
The 2010 14th International Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work in Design, 2010Co-Authors: Yi ChenAbstract:Automatic control on business process with workflow is the core part of a project management system. A process-oriented workflow system model which can support workflow configuration, process control, task assignment, task submitting and approval, and cooperative work is presented. The model is a hierachical architecture that consists of three Layers, i.e. database Layer, workflow engine Layer, and User Interface Layer. It is based on Browser/Server architecture which can provide multi-User, distributed and access control properties. The workflow engine is based on XPDL and relational database technologies and can support cooperative work, branch selection and workflow configuration. The model is implemented on Windows .NET platform, and is applied in an international enterprise project management system. The application results demonstrate that this workflow system model can satisfy the requirement of cooperative project management.

using information visualization to comprehend User Interface Layer an application to web based systems
Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2017Co-Authors: Livia Gabos C Martins, Rogerio Eduardo Garcia, Ingrid MarcalAbstract:Web applications have a complex User Interface (UI) structure. The lack of formal documentation for web applications has been noticed in literature. If updated, formal documentation (and its models) would be helpful both to development and maintenance tasks. However, UI models are difficult to understand because they must have all information about UI structure, with levels of abstraction and scattered information across multiple diagrams. We propose an UI presentation using Information Visualization techniques, named ModelUIVIZ, to support understanding UI implementation. For that, we implemented two tools: a reverse engineering tool, named WebModelUI Data, to extract data from web applications; and the WebModelUI Tool, to create visual presentations. In order to evaluate ModelUIVIZ, we also conducted a controlled experiment focusing on evaluating the ModelUIVIZ on supporting UI comprehension, what had positive results. In this paper we present both the ModelUIVIZ, its evaluation as well as results obtained.

model of a semantic web search engine for multimedia content retrieval
Annual ACIS International Conference on Computer and Information Science, 2007Co-Authors: Mohan Ponnada, Nalin ShardaAbstract:This paper presents the conceptual model of a semantic search engine that can locate required information on the web. This search engine makes use of semantics, or the meaning of queries, to retrieve relevant results. This model, called SCORDRA, is divided into four Layers, namely semantic web, data, application and User Interface Layers. The SCORDRA engine makes use of the sharable content object reference model (SCORM) to bring together relevant data stored in the form of sharable content objects (SCOs). The Data Layer consists of data stored as SCO's. These SCO's are built on the SCORM standards, and their location is resolved by the content object repository discovery and registration/resolution architecture (CORDRA). SCORM defines how information is referenced and used, by packaging data with metadata. CORDRA aims to locate and reference SCORM repositories over the web. The application Layer provides the reasoning platform of the system, it makes use of SCOs discovered by CORDRA by crawling and indexing the SCO's on the Web. The User Interface Layer allows the User to enter queries and view these as multimedia presentations. This semantic web search engine will allow the User to enter a query, and deliver a multimedia presentation that answers the query.
