Triplet molar absorption coefficients, triplet and singlet oxygen quantum yields and triplet lifetimes were determined. Zinc methyl pyroVerdin (ZNMPV), copro II Verdin trimethyl ester (CVTME) and deuteroVerdin methyl ester (DVME) have the highest triplet and singlet oxygen quantum yields. ZNMPV and CVTME have the longest triplet lifetimes. Our data are consistent with singlet oxygen as the primary modality for phototherapy and it is suggested that DVME and CVTME may be useful agents.

Monatshefte Fur Chemie, 1995Co-Authors: Qingqi Chen, Heinz FalkAbstract:1-(Dipyrrinon-9-yl)-3-(dipyrrinon-9-ylidene)-propene, ab-vinylogous Verdin, was synthesized by condensation of 3-(dipyrrinon-9-yl)-propenal with a dipyrrinone unsubstituted in position 9. By condensing the latter with dimedone or squaric acid,b-vinylogous Verdin pigments with restricted configurational and conformational degrees of freedom were obtained. The chemical and spectroscopic properties of these novel systems are discussed.

2002Co-Authors: Celine BertrandAbstract:La Durance et le Verdon, rivieres du Sud-Est de la France, ont subi d'importants amenagements destines a la production energetique et la gestion de la ressource en eau (irrigation, eau potable). Les retenues ainsi edifiees sont soumises a differentes modalites de gestion hydraulique. Les reponses du compartiment phytoplanctonique a la variabilite physique et chimique de l'environnement ont ete envisagees a l'echelle d'une serie de retenues du complexe Durance-Verdon. Les effets de la perturbation anthropique ont ete testes, en regard avec le concept de "l'Intermediate Disturbance Hypothesis", a deux niveaux d'organisation, le peuplement phytoplanctonique (richesse taxinomique) et la population d'une Diatomee, Asterionella formosa (richesse architecturale). Cette algue constitue une nuisance pour les gestionnaires, en affectant l'efficacite des systemes de potabilisation de l'eau de la Societe des Eaux de Marseille. Une etude experimentale a permis de determiner l'influence des modifications densitaire et architecturale d'A. Formosa dans la perte d'efficacite du traitement de floculation.
