  • analysis of Virtual Machine File forensic
    Computer Engineering, 2010
    Co-Authors: X U Rongsheng
    Abstract:

This paper introduces the structure and meanings of Virtual Machine disk File under VMware Workstation software. And the approach for the Virtual Machine Files for judicial need is analyzed.According to the File storage structure in the partition File system,it scans the Virtual Machine File to locate the sector in the Virtual host of the Virtual Machine disk File for accessing to evidence.Taking Virtual hard disk partition to NTFS File system as an example,it discusses some forensic strategies under a Virtual Machine.

  • ICDCS - The Case for Using Content-Centric Networking for Distributing High-Energy Physics Software
2017 IEEE 37th International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems (ICDCS), 2017
Co-Authors: Mohammad Alhowaidi, Byrav Ramamurthy, Brian Bockelman, David Swanson
    Abstract:

Named Data Networking (NDN) is one of the promising future internet architectures, which focuses on the data rather than its location (IP/host-based system). NDN has several characteristics which facilitate addressing and routing the data: fail-over, in-network caching and load balancing. This makes it useful in areas such as managing scientific data. The CMS experiment on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has a data access problem amenable to content-centric networking. CERN Virtual Machine File System (CVMFS) is used by High Energy Physics (HEP) community for worldwide software distribution. CVMFS maintain its data by using content-addressable storage, which makes it suitable for NDN. n this paper, we investigate the possibilities of using a content-centric networking architecture such as NDN on distributing CMS software.

  • ANTS - SDTMA-NDN: Scientific data transfer management architecture using named data networking
2017 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommunications Systems (ANTS), 2017

This makes it useful in areas such as managing scientific data across a distributed infrastructure. The CMS experiment on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) runs such an infrastructure and has a data access pattern amenable to content-centric networking. In this paper, we propose SDTMA-NDN (Scientific Data Transfer Management Architecture using NDN) to distribute CMS's software to worker-nodes and end-users. We build on top of CERN Virtual Machine File System (CVMFS), a global, distributed Filesystem designed to be used with cache-friendly workloads. CVMFS maintain its data by using content-addressable storage, which makes it suitable for NDN and a reasonable starting point for CMS. We examine the effect of in-network caching of NDN on the latency, how NDN provides transparent path selection to avoid high latency in the path, and how it balances several paths for retrieving the data. We compare SDTMA-NDN to the HTTP proxies used in the existing CVMFS-Content distribution Network (CDN). We find that SDTMA-NDN is more resilient and outperforms CVMFS-CDN in the presence of network delays, while the CVMFS-CDN outperforms SDTMA-NDN in ideal cases where there is no delay.

  • architecture of server Virtualization technique based on vmware esxi server in the private cloud for an organization
International journal of innovation and scientific research, 2014
    Co-Authors: Debabrata Sarddar, Rajesh Bose
    Abstract:

The recurring theme of server Virtualization being a bundled single Virtual Machine File – consisting of the operating system, applications and settings – easily stored, deployable or transportable within the bounds of its operating parameters, the Achilles heel of such a VM (Virtual Machine) File is the likelihood of its getting corrupt or irrecoverably lost. Such disastrous occurrences are not unheard of, and are regularly tackled using a system of data backups to extenuate loss or corruption of entire VM Files. However, the backing up process of VM Files itself can compound recurring costs at an unexpected rate in the form of frequent acquisition of storage hardware in which to store the VM Files. In this paper first we shows, a detailed cost comparison that based on power and cooling has been drawn in a table format between physical server and VMware server [VMware esx], secondly we analyze the role that the Billboard Manager has to play in shuttling the VM Files in a secure and encrypted manner so as to extract the maximum operating potential of server Virtualization and Virtualization storage system in a private cloud domain.
