A SOLID-PHASE COMBINATORIAL METHOD FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF NOVEL 5-AND 6-MEMBERED RING LACTAMS
Tetrahedron Letters, 1997Co-Authors: Kevin M. Short, Adnan M M MjalliAbstract:The synthesis of small-ring lactams via the condensation of ω-ketoacids, isocyanides and amines is reported. This process is shown to proceed well in a combinatorial fashion, by immobilization of the isocyanide component on Wang Resin. The product is then released from the support on treatment with 10% TFA/CH2Cl2
-
The synthesis of hydantoin 4-imides on solid support
Tetrahedron Letters, 1996Co-Authors: K M Short, Brett W. Ching, Adnan M M MjalliAbstract:Abstract Solid phase synthesis of hydantoin 4-imides via the ‘Ugi’ 4-component condensation reaction is reported. This process is then shown to proceed well in a combinatorial fashion, by immobilization of the isocyanide component on Wang Resin. The desired product is then released from the support upon treatment with 20% trifluoroacetic acid-CH 2 Cl 2 .

combinatorial method for the synthesis of α hydroxy phosphonates on Wang Resin
Tetrahedron Letters, 1996Co-Authors: Adnan M M MjalliAbstract:Abstract An efficient synthesis of α-hydroxy phosphonates has been achieved via the reaction of polymer supported H-phosphonate ester·DBU salts with aldehydes.
-
A combinatorial method for the solid phase synthesis of α-amino phosphonates and phosphonic acids☆
Tetrahedron Letters, 1996Co-Authors: Chengzhi Zhang, Adnan M M MjalliAbstract:Abstract Lewis acids or ultrasound catalyze the condensation of imines with Wang Resin bound H-phosphonates to give high yields of the corresponding α-amino phosphonates or phosphonic acids.
-
synthesis of tetrasubstituted imidazoles via α n acyl n alkylamino β ketoamides on Wang Resin
Tetrahedron Letters, 1996Co-Authors: Chengzhi Zhang, Edmund J Moran, Thomas F Woiwode, K M Short, Adnan M M MjalliAbstract:The first example of a four component condensation of arylglyoxals, 1° amines, carboxylic acids and isocyanides on Wang Resin is described. These products can be cyclized in the presence of NH4OAcAcOH to yield tetrasubstituted imidazoles.

synthesis of a new fluoro Wang Resin for solid phase reaction monitoring by 19f nmr spectroscopy
ACS Combinatorial Science, 2001Co-Authors: Joseph M Salvino, Sharmila Patel, Mark D Drew, Paul Krowlikowski, Edward Orton, Vassant N Kumar, And Thomas Caulfield, Richard LabaudiniereAbstract:A new fluoro-Wang Resin is presented which facilitates solid-phase reaction monitoring using 19F NMR. The Resin is easily synthesized and amenable to scale-up. The method described herein compliments single-bead FT-IR and 13C NMR techniques. This method allows monitoring of solid-phase reactions even if the Resin bound intermediate is unstable to the cleavage conditions. In addition, this is a useful tool to study reaction kinetics on the solid phase.

novel applications of Resin bound α amino acids for the synthesis of benzodiazepines via Wang Resin and ketopiperazines via hydroxymethyl Resin
Tetrahedron Letters, 2000Co-Authors: Christopher Hulme, Vasant N Kumar, Paul H Krolikowski, Andrew Allen, Richard LabaudiniereAbstract:Abstract This communication reveals a novel application of Resin bound α-amino acids coupled with the UDC (Ugi/DeBOC/cyclize) strategy. Reaction with either N -BOC-α-amino aldehydes or N -BOC anthranilic acids and subsequent acid treatment allows the preparation of highly pure and diverse arrays (approx. 10 000 in size) of 1,4-benzodiazepines (Wang Resin) and ketopiperazines (hydroxymethyl Resin), respectively. Notable for the benzodiazepine series of compounds are the five potential points of diversity available from this two-step protocol.

solid phase synthesis of oxazolones and other heterocycles via Wang Resin bound diazocarbonyls
Tetrahedron Letters, 2005Co-Authors: Makoto Yamashita, Guido Koch, Juerg Zimmermann, Bruce Clapham, Kim D JandaAbstract:Abstract The preparation of Wang Resin bound α-diazo-β-ketoesters is described. These highly useful intermediates were used for the synthesis of a series of heterocycle libraries, which were obtained from the Resin using TFA cleavage. In addition, a novel route for the synthesis of oxazolones using an N–H insertion strategy is disclosed.

Solid-Phase Organic Synthesis of Methyl Isoxazole-5-carboxylates Based on Wang Resin–Bound 1-Phenylselenoacrylate
Synthetic Communications, 2012Co-Authors: Ni Tang, Shouri Sheng, Qiaosheng Hu, Hongen QuAbstract:Abstract A novel Wang Resin–bound 1-phenylselenoacrylate reagent has been developed and used as dipolarophile for the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition with nitrile oxides to the regioselective synthesis of methyl 3-substituted isoxazole-5-carboxylates in good yields and purities.

Methyl 3‐substituted‐isoxazole‐5‐ carboxylates syntheses on solid supports via Wang Resin‐bound 2,3‐dibromopropionate
Heteroatom Chemistry, 2012Co-Authors: Shouri Sheng, Ai‐ying HeAbstract:A novel Wang Resin-bound 2,3-dibromopropionate reagent has been developed and used as a potential dipolarophile for the facile preparation of methyl 3-substituted-isoxazole-5-carboxylates through triethylamine, promoting a sequence of reactions involving the in situ generation of 2-bromoacrylate Resin and nitrile oxide, regioselective 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition, and loss of hydrogen bromide in one pot, and then cleavage from the Resin with sodium methoxide. The advantages of this method include simple operation and mild conditions with good yield and high purity of the products. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
