  • Pemodelan Enterprise Architecture Zachman Framework pada Sistem Informasi Fakultas Teknologi Informasi Universitas Kristen Maranatha Bandung
    2015
Co-Authors: Meliana Christianti, Radiant Victor Imbar
    Abstract:

System development which focuses in the use of Information Technology is the basic foundation for an organization to improve its efficiency and effectivity. The use of Information Technology is hoped to increase its ability to compete with other organizations. When an organization wants to implement a new technology or system, it can use Enterprise Architecture to define various processes running in it. Enterprise Architecture is able to define the existing system and information technology as well as to provide the guideline for an organization in making a good decision when investing in the area of information technology. Zachman Framework is one of the theories of Information System Modeling which can be used to describe Enterprise Architecture completely. Thus, Zachman Framework can be used to support the definition process in an organization. Zachman Framework’s information system modeling is implemented in the faculty of Information Technology at Maranatha Christian University Bandung. The analysis includes: What column, How column, Where column, Who column, When column, and Why column. What column describes a list of business entities and academic system related data. How column defines the academic business process. Where column describes a major business location. Who column describes human resources of the organization. When column describes major events and Why column defining business strategy and long term planning of the Faculty. The final result of Zachman Framework implementation in the faculty of Information Technology at Maranatha Christian University will produce an enterprise architecture documentation for 2006 / 2007 odd term. The document can be used as a base for technology related investment. For example, adding computer resources for new lectures or upgrading resources for computer laboratory. Jurnal Siste

  • analisis dan pemodelan enterprise architecture pt indonesia power ubp kamojang menggunakan metode Zachman Framework
    Jurnal Sistem Informasi, 2012
Co-Authors: Radiant Victor Imbar, Rahayu Agustin
    Abstract:

PT Indonesia Power is a large company that manages electrical processing. In order to guarantee the supply of electrical energy for the community, the company needs to determine a process plan effectively. In addition, the company needs to describe every function in the organization so that it can be positioned in their own division. Enterprise architecture is a point of view on how we see elements in enterprise entirely. There are several Frameworks to describe it. Zachman Framework is one of the Frameworks that provides element classifications in an architectural way. The result of EAP is a blueprint, including data architectures, applications and technology as the orientation for the development of the system. The Classification outcomes in Zachman Framework include several scopes that is what, how, where, when, who, why, and where all of the classification scopes have to identify data in any sections of the company. During the final assignment, the classification for the enterprise architecture in PT Indonesia Power UBP Kamojang include all sections in the company that relate to the processing of electrical productions. The purpose of it is to analyze the data or entity which relate to the production processes, flow production processes from the beginning to the end of the process, and also to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the company. Keywords : Enterprise Architecture, Zachman Framework

    Abstract:

PT.

  • rediscovering Zachman Framework using ontology from a requirement engineering perspective
Computer Software and Applications Conference, 2009
    Co-Authors: Zhuozhi Chen, Rob Pooley
    Abstract:

An information system distinguishes itself from other software as it is developed to facilitate the operation of an organization, hence it reflects its strategies, plans, organizations, processes, marketing etc. We believe that the requirement in the form of domain knowledge acquired in the early stage of system development can be organized and modeled in Enterprise Architecture. However research in Enterprise Architecture focus on other issues rather than requirement engineering. Hence we propose several new ideas on the extension of Zachman Framework, one of the most widely used Enterprise Architectures. We first partition Zachman Framework from two different perspectives, domain engineering phases and requirement engineering techniques. Then we propose a meta-model for Zachman Framework which is adapted and integrated from the Bunge-Wand- Weber ontology and Enterprise Ontology.

  • domain modeling for enterprise information systems formalizing and extending Zachman Framework using bww ontology
Computer Science and Information Engineering, 2009
    Co-Authors: Zhuozhi Chen, Rob Pooley
    Abstract:

Domain engineering is perhaps the most promising method for requirement reuse. However, most of the methods proposed are too generic and lack practical guidelines to be used in information systems development. An information system distinguishes itself from other software as it is developed to facilitate the operation of an organization, hence it reflects its strategies, plans, organizations, processes, marketing etc. We believe that domain knowledge involved in information system development, which may include industry specific knowledge and generic enterprise management knowledge, can be organized and modeled in Enterprise Architecture.     We propose a conceptual modeling method for the domain modeling of information system based on one of the most widely used Enterprise Architectures, the Zachman Framework. Our approach maps phases of domain engineering to Zachman Framework and develops a meta-model for Zachman Framework which is adapted and integrated from the Bunge-Wand-Weber ontology. We also extend the Zachman Framework to represent features. This results in a more concrete and comprehensive information system development methodology. Finally we illustrate our methodology using an example of an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system in a manufacturing company.

  • leveraging the Zachman Framework implementation using action research methodology a case study aligning the enterprise architecture and the business goals
    Enterprise Information Systems, 2013
Co-Authors: Juan Manuel Nogueira, David Romero, Javier Espadas, Arturo Molina
    Abstract:

With the emergence of new enterprise models, such as technology-based enterprises, and the large quantity of information generated through technological advances, the Zachman Framework continues to represent a modelling tool of great utility and value to construct an enterprise architecture EA that can integrate and align the IT infrastructure and business goals. Nevertheless, implementing an EA requires an important effort within an enterprise. Small technology-based enterprises and start-ups can take advantage of EAs and Frameworks but, because these enterprises have limited resources to allocate for this task, an enterprise Framework implementation is not feasible in most cases. This article proposes a new methodology based on action–research for the implementation of the business, system and technology models of the Zachman Framework to assist and facilitate its implementation. Following the explanation of cycles of the proposed methodology, a case study is presented to illustrate the results of implementing the Zachman Framework in a technology-based enterprise: PyME CREATIVA, using action–research approach.

  • using the Zachman Framework to achieve enterprise integration based on business process driven modelling
OTM '08 Proceedings of the OTM Confederated International Workshops and Posters on On the Move to Meaningful Internet Systems: 2008 Workshops: ADI AWe, 2008
Co-Authors: Javier Espadas, David Romero, David Concha, Arturo Molina
    Abstract:

Enterprise interoperability enables the access to relevant information within an enterprise. Traditionally, enterprise integration implementations are managed as merely technological solutions, but integration requirements outcome from business process needs, such as just-in-time information and integration with strategic partners. Without a business process driven methodology that comprises both technical and behavioural views, enterprise integration projects are prone to failure. This paper proposes a business process driven modelling approach for enterprise integration using the Zachman Framework to build the enterprise architecture interoperability. The most important model of the enterprise architecture in this proposal is the business process level and its relationships with other architectural model levels.

  • enterprise information system engineering a model based approach based on the Zachman Framework
Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 2008
    Co-Authors: Mara Nikolaidou, Nancy Alexopoulou
    Abstract:

Enterprise information system engineering involves heterogeneous methodologies, tools and system models focusing on different system aspects, which should be integrated. Model-based system engineering may contribute towards this direction, by providing a central system model that captures system requirements and decisions that fulfill them at different levels of abstraction. The central system model serves all engineering activities and should be multi-layered, technology-neutral and modular. Zachman's enterprise architecture Framework may be used as a basis for constructing a central EIS model. Basic guidelines to incorporate model-based EIS engineering methodologies within Zachman Framework are discussed in the paper. Furthermore, a model-based EIS design approach based on these guidelines is presented to explore related benefits and drawbacks.
