Study on the correlation between CYP17 polymorphisms of androgen-related gene and the Acne Cystica of Han people in Hunan province
Beijing Medical Journal, 2011Co-Authors: Tian Li-mingAbstract:Objective To explore the correlation of the androgen-related CYP17 gene polymorphism and Acne Cystica of Han people in Hunan province. Methods Cases studied included patients with Acne vulgarisms and Acne cystic and healthy people. The polymorphism was investigated by PCR using DNA from peripheral blood lymphocytes. The transition(T→C) in the risk allele(A2) produced a new recognition site for the restriction endonuclease MspA1Ⅰ. Three genotypes of androgen-related CYP17 genes (A1A1,A1A2,A2A2) were determined and confirmed by sequencing. Results The frequency of the A1A2 gene was not significantly different(X2=2.965,P = 0.085,OR=0.590,95% CI 0.323～1.078;X2=0.11,P = 0.74,OR=0.904,95% CI 0.498～1.641)either from patients with Acne vulgarisms and Acne cystic or patients with Acne vulgarisms and healthy controls. The frequency of the A1A2 gene was significantly different(X2=3.893,P = 0.048,OR=1.875,95% CI 1.001～3.510)between patients with Acne cystic and healthy subjects. The frequency of the A2A2 gene was not significantly different(X2=0.015,P = 0.901,OR=0.958, 95% CI 0.490～1.875)between patients with Acne vulgarisms and the healthy subjects. The frequency of the A2A2 gene was significantly different(X2=6.383, P = 0.012,OR=2.293,95% CI 1.197～4.393;X2=6.42,P = 0.011,OR=2.198, 95% CI 1.189～4.061)from either patients with Acne cystic and Acne vulgarisms or patients with Acne cystic and healthy subjects. Conclusion The presence of base substitution in androgen-related CYP17 gene -34bp (T→C) can increase the risk of Acne Cystica.

Study on correlation between CAG polymorphisms of androgen receptor gene and the Acne Cystica of Han population in Hunan Province
Beijing Medical Journal, 2009Co-Authors: Hu Yao-huaAbstract:Objective To explore the correlation of the CAG polymorphisms of androgen receptor gene and Acne Cystica of Han population in Hunan Province.Methods The PCR products of androgen receptor gene in Acne vulgaris and Acne Cystica patients and normal controls were tested for sequencing.The results of the testing were analyzed using Web Angis.Results The average value of the microsatellite polymorphisms of the CAG among androgen receptor gene in Acne vulgaris,Acne Cystica and normal controls were 22.89±1.94,19.12±1.81 and 23.15±2.2,respectively,which had significant difference between Acne Cystica and Acne vulgaris(t=8.41,P0.05).There was also significant difference of the average value between patients with Acne Cystica and normal controls(t=8.23,P0.05),while there was no difference between patients with Acne vulgaris and normal controls(t=0.528,P0.05).(CAG)n repeat fragments less than 22 was taken as the standard for statistic analysis.The comparison showed significant differences existed between Acne Cystica and Acne vulgaris(χ2=45.17,P0.05),and between Acne Cystica and normal controls(χ2=48.52,P0.05).However,the difference between Acne vulgaris and normal controls was not significant(χ2=0.06,P0.05).Conclusions The CAG polymorphisms of androgen receptor's gene has correlation with Acne Cystica of Han population in Hunan Province.When(CAG)n repeat fragments are less than 22,the risk of suffering from Acne Cystica will be increased.

A survey of the effects of low-dose Dapsone plus Folic Acid in cystic Acne
Tehran University of Medical Sciences, 1995Co-Authors: Rohani MAbstract:Forty-six cases of patients suffering from Acne Cystica (conglobata) were treated by low-dose dapsone plus folic acid (1 mg/day). This study has been performed on patients that had no response to other treatments. Several essential and careful tests and examinations were performed on patients before and during treatment. Ten patients of 46 above-mentioned cases were excluded from treatment protocol, because of the reasons that have been mentioned in this article. In 33 cases of 36 patients that recieved the treatment, the cystic lesions were disappeared without any exception and had satisfactory response to treatment
