chemistry of verongida sponges ii constituents of the caribbean sponge aplysina fistularis forma fulva
Journal of Natural Products, 1994Co-Authors: Patrizia Ciminiello, Alfonso Mangoni, Valeria Costantino, Ernesto Fattorusso, Silvana Magno, Maurizio PansiniAbstract:A detailed analysis of the secondary metabolites of the Verongida sponge Aplysina fistularis forms fulva has been performed. Twelve bromotyrosine derivatives have been identified, of which two, 14 and 15, are novel compounds. Structure determination of compounds 14 and 15, performed by spectroscopic means, resulted in revision of the 13 C-nmr assignments of Aerothionine [1] and its derivatives. The sponge also elaborates an unusual imidazotetrahydropyrimidine derivative [16], probably derived from histidine, which has not yet been described as a naturally occurring compound

asymmetric synthesis of Aerothionin a marine dimeric spiroisoxazoline natural product employing optically active spiroisoxazoline derivative
Tetrahedron Letters, 2006Co-Authors: Takahisa Ogamino, Rika Obata, Shigeru NishiyamaAbstract:Abstract Successful first synthesis of optically pure (+)- and (−)-Aerothionins ( 1 ) from the racemic spiroisoxazoline derivative 8 has been accomplished. The absolute configuration of natural (+)- 1 was determined by comparison of (+)- and (−)- 8 with related derivatives.
