    The Air quality in the Aragón valley, in the central Pyrenees, has been assessed by evaluation of lichen biodiversity and mapped by elaboration of the Index of Air Purity (IAP) based on observations of the presence and abundance of eight kinds of lichen with different sensitivity to Air pollution. The IAP values obtained have been compared with quantitative analytical measures of 16 PAHs in the lichen Evernia prunastri , because this species was associated with a wide range of traffic exposure and levels of urbanization. Analyses of PAHs were carried out by the DSASE method followed by an SPE clean-up step and GC–MS analysis. The concentration of total PAHs found in lichen samples from the Aragón valley ranged from 692 to 6420 ng g^−1 and the PAHs profile showed predominance of compounds with three aromatic rings. The influence of the road traffic in the area has been shown because values over the median concentration of PAHs (>1092 ng g^−1), percentage of combustion PAHs (>50%), and equivalent toxicity (>169) were found in lichens collected at places exposed to the influence of traffic. The combination of both methods suggests IAP as a general method for evaluating the Air pollution referenced to PAHs because it can be correlated with the content of combustion PAHs and poor lichen biodiversity can be partly explained by the Air pollution caused by specific PAHs.     Abstract:

    The sieve-aerodynamic separation process in cereals combine-harvesters operating in mountainous areas is subject to a disadvantageous impact of the area inclination [3, 6]. On slopes of an inclination above 10° the operational quality of combine-harvesters provided with flat shutter sieves worsened considerably [1, 2, 4]. The decrease in the separation effectiveness under those conditions is due to the gravitational displacement of the threshing mass separated from the straw (grain, minor straw fractions, chaff, etc.) onto the lower-located side of the sieves of the cleaning unit and its local overload. In order to eliminate the negative effects of the operation of the inclined cleaning unit the model of a sieve-aerodynamic separator was made at the Agricultural Engineering Institute of the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences in which, in addition, a lateral system of nozzles that directs the regulated Air flow under the top shutter sieve was implemented to the conventional central blowing system [5]. The operational parameters of the sieve-aerodynamic separator should be optimized taking into account two criteria: the level of Air Purity obtained and the size of generated losses. Tending towards the optimization of those indexes, variations of the cleaning Air flow rate and variations of the Air flow direction were assumed. Considering the foregoing, the aim of this paper is to present the impact of the multidirectional Air flow rate at the operation of the sieve-aerodynamic separator under the conditions of an inclination.

    The organization of an open-Air sporting event involves a series of challenges. People are drawn by the desire to do sport, preferably in close contact with nature, so as to complement healthy lifestyles, and in search of Air Purity. Sporting organizations are increasingly searching for new locations that do not only attract athletes, but spectators and companions too. Races in natural parks provide the additional benefit of doing sport in a unique space, usually a transmitter of simplicity, pure Air, and tranquillity. Organizing a mountain race in a natural park implies some issues. These are areas of great environmental richness that must be protected. Natural parks are places of individual recreational activity. Within the running phenomenon, a new type of mountain race has appeared: the hiking-oriented pilgrimage, in which athletes travel ancestral paths, pilgrimage routes thus combining sport practice with spirituality. This paper aims to analyse all the actions and policies that were carried out for the peaceful integration and coexistence of two totally different events that coincide physically and temporally: the Penyagolosa Trails race, and the Peregrins de les Useres, an ancestral pilgrimage that is carried out by each and every one of the towns belonging to the Penyagolosa Natural Park. The objective is to demonstrate the sustainability of the project thanks to the collective effort and the goodwill of the interested parties, in a way that produces a mutual benefit.
