    Abstract:

    This paper presents our research on devising a dependability assessment method for the upcoming OGSA 3.0 middleware using network level fault injection. We compare existing DCE middleware dependability testing research with the requirements of testing OGSA middleware and derive a new method and fault model. From this we have implemented an extendable fault injector framework and undertaken some proof of concept experiments with a simulated OGSA middleware system based around Apache SOAP and Apache Tomcat. We also present results from our initial experiments, which uncovered a discrepancy with our simulated OGSA system. We finally detail future research, including plans to adapt this fault injector framework from the stateless environment of a standard Web service to the stateful environment of an OGSA service.

    Abstract:

    Investigations on web service performance metric based on RESTful architecture against conventional SOAP based architecture has importance in perspective of developers as well as for end users. As such we have developed and hosted two web services, one based on SOAP and the other based on RESTful architecture. Both the services are based on JAVA technology implemented with Apache Tomcat web server and MySQL as backend database server. A comparative evaluation of both the web services is carried out to study its scalability, efficiency and feasibility. Load and stress testing tool Mercury Load Runner is used to deploy both the services for testing the architecture. The statistical analysis on recorded performance metrics is carried out to study the effectiveness of the services. This paper presents in details the comparative analysis of the experimental results on performance aspects of the services.

    Abstract:

    Quality of service is the key indicator for service oriented architectures, because it directly expresses the operability and computational nature of the system. As such, we propose a quality evaluation framework for multi service multi functional hierarchical SOAP based web service. The overall interoperable quality is evaluated through load testing using Mercury Load Runner with Apache Tomcat web server and MySQL database engine. The recorded quality metrics are analyzed statistically. We present here in detail the architecture, observed metrics and analyzed results of the service oriented computing to validate the acceptability of the evaluation framework.

    Evaluating the implementation techniques of web service and analysing their performance in load balancing cluster-based and non-cluster-based web server is necessary from the perspective of web service developer, researchers as well as users. As such the authors propose to develop and implement a SOAP based hierarchical web service using load balancing cluster-based and non-cluster based Apache Tomcat web server to study the web service performance metrics. The performance of overall system is tested using the load testing tool Mercury Load runner and a comparative investigation is carried out using the stability, load and performance metrics of both services. In this paper, the authors present, in detail, the methodology of experiment, comparative testing results, and statistical analysis on performance metrics.

The web service has been tested by deploying it on Mercury Load Runner to study various attributes like load and performance of the service, scalability and reliability. In this paper, we will present in details the architecture of the service, its testing procedure and the result of different testing, performed on the service.

    Abstract:

    This paper proposes a framework that allows a convenient and flexible implementation of a mobile agent platform. We present an architecture that integrates the mobile agent computing paradigm with Web services to achieve the development of a web-integrated mobile agent platform. The platform components are deployed on Apache Tomcat web servers and the implementation is based on the Apache Java SOAP library. As it will be demonstrated, the Web services model perfectly matches the demands of the architecture of a mobile agent platform providing a straightforward design and implementation of a platform agnostic Web-based mobile agent tool.
