  • cloud based healthcare Application Architecture and electronic medical record mining an integrated approach to improve healthcare system
    Computer and Information Technology, 2014
Co-Authors: Sumon Biswas, Tanjina Akhter, M S Kaiser, Shamim Al Mamun
    Abstract:

Healthcare system can be enhanced vastly with the use of modern information technology. Still now in underdeveloped and developing countries, traditional paper based system is being used in healthcare. Although very few organizations use computer based system, they could not establish a ubiquitous network among patients, physicians and government. Cloud computing is the emerging technology which can be used to develop a heterogeneous network to improve the system. In this article, a three tier cloud based Application “eHealth Cloud” has been developed which will involve different parties to improve old-fashioned healthcare system. RIA (Rich Internet Application) based client, SimpleDB based server and a logic layer have been designed to build an easily accessible network. By using the “eHealth Cloud”, enormous electronic medical record (EMR) will be stored everyday. This huge size of data can lead us with new research opportunities. Data mining from the large amount of EMR has been proposed. The process of data mining, a standard for exchanging data and a mining model is described. Finally, the challenges and future research options are directed.

  • a home healthcare system in the cloud addressing security and privacy challenges
International Conference on Cloud Computing, 2011
Co-Authors: Mina Deng, Milan Petkovic, Marco Nalin, Ilaria Baroni
    Abstract:

Cloud computing is an emerging technology that is expected to support Internet scale critical Applications which could be essential to the healthcare sector. Its scalability, resilience, adaptability, connectivity, cost reduction, and high performance features have high potential to lift the efficiency and quality of healthcare. However, it is also important to understand specific risks related to security and privacy that this technology brings. This paper focuses on a home healthcare system based on cloud computing. It introduces several use cases and draws an Architecture based on the cloud. A comprehensive methodology is used to integrate security and privacy engineering process into the software development lifecycle. In particular, security and privacy challenges are identified in the proposed cloud-based home healthcare system. Moreover, a functional infrastructure plan is provided to demonstrate the integration between the proposed Application Architecture with the cloud infrastructure. Finally, the paper discusses several mitigation techniques putting the focus on patient-centric control and policy enforcement via cryptographic technologies, and consequently on digital rights management and attribute based encryption technologies.

  • Architecture Conformance Analysis Approach within the Context of Multiple Product Line Engineering
    2014 23rd Australian Software Engineering Conference, 2014
Co-Authors: Bedir Tekinerdogan, Evren Çilden, Özgü Özköse Erdogan, Onur Aktug
    Abstract:

One of the important concerns in software product line engineering is the conformance of the Application Architecture to the product line Architecture. Consistency with the product line Architecture is important to ensure that the business rules and constraints that are defined for the entire product family are not violated. Usually, the conformance checking to the product line Architecture is a manual and tedious process. A popular approach for ensuring Architecture conformance is reflexion modeling which has been primarily used to check the consistency between the Architecture and the code. In this paper we present an approach for product line conformance analysis based on reflexion modeling. We consider conformance analysis in product line engineering and extend our discussion to multiple product line engineering. Our study shows several important challenges regarding reflexion modeling within the context of product line engineering.

  • aligning Application Architecture to the business context
Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering, 2003
Co-Authors: Roel Wieringa, H M Blanken, Maarten M. Fokkinga, Paul Grefen
    Abstract:

Alignment of Application Architecture to business Architecture is a central problem in the design, acquisition and implementation of information systems in current large-scale information-processing organizations. Current research in Architecture alignment is either too strategic or too software implementation-oriented to be of use to the practicing information systems architect. This paper presents a framework to analyze the alignment problem and operationalizes this as an approach to Application Architecture design given a business context. We summarize guidelines for Application Architecture design and illustrate our approach and guidelines with an example.
