An Inexpensive Automatic Control System for Soil Testing
, 1991Co-Authors: Nagaratnam Sivakugan, J. L. Chameau, R. D. HoltzAbstract:This paper describes an inexpensive Automatic Control System for soils testing. The System comprises a microcomputer, an analog to digital converter, a relay board, and solenoid valves. It has been used successfully in K o -consolidation and strain Controlled loading of cubical specimens in a cuboidal shear device. Possibilities of using this System in other soil testing Systems are also explored.
-
INEXPENSIVE Automatic Control System FOR SOILS TESTING
, 1991Co-Authors: Nagaratnam Sivakugan, R. D. Holtz, J. L. Chameau, An-bin HuangAbstract:An inexpensive Automatic Control System for soils testing is described. The System comprises a microcomputer, an analog-digital conversion board, an output relay board, a parallel digital interface, and solenoid valves. Minimal programming is involved to set up the System, and the required software is ordinarily provided by the manufacturer at no cost. The System has been successfully used in K sub 0 consolidation and strain-Controlled loading of cubical clay specimens in a cuboidal shear device. The System may also be used to Control other soil testing equipment.
