biosynthesis of silver nanocrystals by Bacillus Licheniformis
Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, 2008Co-Authors: Kalishwaralal Kalimuthu, Ramkumarpandian Suresh Babu, Deepak Venkataraman, Mohd Bilal, Sangiliyandi GurunathanAbstract:The use of microorganisms for the synthesis of nanoparticles is in the limelight of modern nanotechnology. Using the bacterium Bacillus Licheniformis, the biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles was investigated. These silver nanoparticles were characterized by means of UV-vis spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron diffraction spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The nanoparticles exhibited maximum absorbance at 440 nm in UV-vis spectroscopy. The XRD spectrum of silver nanoparticles exhibited 2theta values corresponding to the silver nanocrystal. SEM micrographs revealed the formation of well-dispersed silver nanoparticles of 50 nm, and the presence of silver was confirmed by EDX analysis.

Application Effect of Bacillus Licheniformis L_3 on Corn and Rice
Hubei Agricultural Sciences, 2009Co-Authors: Lin Kai-chunAbstract:This paper studied the effects of the fermentation broth, supernatant and pellet of Bacillus Licheniformis L3 on corn and rice respectively. The results showed that the fermentation broth of Bacillus Licheniformis L3 had significantly effect on corn.It was mainly caused by the pellet of the fermentation broth of Bacillus Licheniformis L3.Analysis of the fermenta-tion broth showed that cytokinin was produced by Bacillus Licheniformis L3.

Optimization of Bacillus Licheniformis L3 Fermentation Medium by Response Surface Method
Hubei Agricultural Sciences, 2009Co-Authors: Lin Kai-chunAbstract:Bacillus Licheniformis L3 showed strong fungicidal activity against Fusarium spp. and Sclerotinia spp. Based on the single-factor test, carbon source, soybean powder and K2HPO4 were determined as necessary for spore formation of Bacillus Licheniformis L3 through the Plackett-Burman design. The medium consist with soybean flour 8 g·L-1,K2HPO4 2 g·L-1,carbon 32.20 g·L-1,MgSO4 0.5g·L-1,yeast extract 2.5 g·L-1 were defined as the optimum medium for Bacillus Licheniformis L3 growth and spore formation, through the center combination of design and response surface analysis. With the optimum medium the live bacteria number was 100.20×108CFU·mL-1,nearly double than that with the initial culture medium.

Research Advances in the Application of Bioactive Substances Produced by Bacillus Licheniformis
Current biotechnology, 2013Co-Authors: Zhang FuyunAbstract:Bacillus Licheniformis is a common Gram-positive bacterium. It has good features of high heat-resistance,variouse enzyme production, good enzyme productivity, and high safety. It also can produce many kinds of bioactive substances such as polysaccharid, lipopeptide biosurfactant, bacitracin and small molecular substances. This paper summarizes the research progress of bioactive substances produced by Bacillus Licheniformis and their biological activity and application, prospects its development direction of new strains construction by means of genetic engineering,so as to provide references for the future utilization of Bacillus Licheniformis.
