  • Computer Simulation of Damage Efficiency for Aircraft Carrier under Attacking of Tactical Ballistic Missile
    Computer Simulation, 2006
    Co-Authors: Li Hong-xia
    Abstract:

From the point of view of attack-defense of tactical Ballistic Missile and aircraft carrier, and through analyzing the mobile area and scouting early warnings and mobile evading capability of aircraft carrier, the tactical Ballistic Missile’s optimum attack tactics and aircraft carrier’s defense tactics were made. Simulation models for the research of damage efficiency for aircraft carrier under the attacking of tactical Ballistic Missile were made, and the structure and function and algorithm were discussed. The imitation result makes down: To static or linear moving carrier, ordinary Ballistic Missile processes better hit effect, and yet to the warning system intact and being in mobile evading carrier, fighting effect is very much finite, so the fresh terminal guidance technology needs to be developed.

  • Nuclear Zero and Ballistic-Missile Defence
    Survival, 2010
    Co-Authors: Dean A. Wilkening
    Abstract:

A key issue with regard to achieving deep cuts in nuclear arms is the role of defences, in particular Ballistic-Missile defences. Defences are often viewed as obstructions to deep cuts, because strategic stability may be compromised when offensive nuclear forces are reduced to the point where the defence can absorb an opponent's retaliatory strike, thereby undermining the opponent's deterrent. But Ballistic-Missile defence in a world without Ballistic Missiles and, ultimately, without nuclear weapons has benefits. The transition from an offence-dominant strategic balance to one dominated by defences can be managed without significantly disrupting strategic stability. Ballistic-Missile defence will, in fact, be essential for stabilising a world without Ballistic Missiles just as defences in general help stabilise a world where nuclear weapons are eliminated entirely.

  • Airborne Boost-Phase Ballistic Missile Defense
    Science & Global Security, 2004
    Co-Authors: Dean A. Wilkening
    Abstract:

Boost-phase Ballistic Missile defense is alluring because rocket boosters are easy to detect and track, they are relatively vulnerable due to the large axial loads on a Missile under powered flight, the entire payload (single or multiple warheads and midcourse penetration aids) may be destroyed in a single shot, and countermeasures to defeat boost-phase defense are more difficult to devise than for midcourse Ballistic Missile defenses. Moreover, if intercepted several seconds before booster burnout, the debris will land well short of the target area, although collateral damage to other territory is a serious concern. On the other hand, boost-phase Ballistic Missile defense is technically challenging because the intercept timelines are very short (1–3 minutes for theater-range Ballistic Missiles and 3–5 minutes for intercontinental range Missiles) and Missile boosters are accelerating targets, thus complicating the design of homing kinetic-kill vehicles (KKVs). This article examines the technical feasibili...

  • Modeling on Ballistic Missile Threat Assessment
DEStech Transactions on Computer Science and Engineering, 2017
Co-Authors: Jin-ke Xiao, Wei Min Li, Xin-rong Xiao
    Abstract:

Ballistic Missile (BM) threat assessment is the chief problem of Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) assistant decision-making. Firstly, the BM threat assessment model is constructed through qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis on threat assessment indexes influencing the threat assessment degree; then Improved Clonal Selection Algorithm Optimizing Neural Network (ICLONALG-NN) is designed to solve the model through introducing crossover operator and population update operator into traditional CLONALG to optimize Neural Network parameters. Experimental simulation confirms the superiority and practicability of assistant decision-making model solved by ICLONALG-NN.

  • A Requirement Assessment Algorithm for Anti-Ballistic Missile Considering Ballistic Missile`s Flight Characteristics
Journal of the Korea Institute of Military Science and Technology, 2011
Co-Authors: Heung-seob Kim, Ki Tae Kim, Geonwook Jeon
    Abstract:

A Ballistic Missile(BM) is a Missile that follows a sub-orbital Ballistic flightpath with the objective of delivering one or more wardheads to a predetermined target and An Anti-Ballistic Missile(ABM) is a Missile designed to destroy a Ballistic Missile before reaching its target. The main objective of this study is to assess the requirement of ABM by considering both flight characteristic of the SCUD-B/C, Nodong Missiles and intercept performance of ABM in the Lower tier Ballistic Missile Defense(BMD). The Ballistic Missile`s flight characteristics, such as trajectory, velocity etc., are estimated by simulation using the physical motion equations. The requirement of ABM is calculated by evaluating whether the BMD forces can defend those when the Ballistic Missiles attack prime facilities.

  • iran s Ballistic Missile and space launch programs
    2012
    Co-Authors: Steven A Hildreth
    Abstract:

This report provides an overview of the sociopolitical and economic situation in Iran, and discusses Iran's Ballistic Missile and space launch programs.

  • long range Ballistic Missile defense in europe
    2009
    Co-Authors: Steven A Hildreth
    Abstract:

This report discusses how successive U.S. governments have urged the creation of an anti-Missile system to protect against long-range Ballistic Missile threats from adversary states. The proposed U.S. system has encountered resistance in some European countries and beyond.

  • Iran's Ballistic Missile Programs: An Overview
    2009
    Co-Authors: Steven A Hildreth
    Abstract:

Iran has an active interest in developing, acquiring, and deploying a broad range of Ballistic Missiles. This was spotlighted in mid-July 2008 when Iran launched a number of Ballistic Missiles during military exercises. This report seeks to provide an overview of the reported or suspected variety of Iranian Ballistic Missile programs. Because there remains widespread public divergence over particulars, however, this report does not provide specificity to what Iran may or may not have, or is in the process of developing.
