  • a systematic literature review of bio green and circular economy trends in publications in the field of economics and Business Management
    Sustainability, 2018
Co-Authors: Valeria Ferreira Gregorio, Antonio Terceno
    Abstract:

The concepts of bioeconomy, green economy and circular economy share the common objective of developing a sustainable economy, and they attract enormous political, academic, social and Business interest. However, an analysis of these concepts in the fields of economics and Business Management is lacking. The objective of this article is to classify the publications on these topics by subject of study, to analyse trends in publications and to guide researchers interested in selecting articles. The review was performed using Scopus for the period 1960 to 2017. Four hundred and forty-nine publications were obtained and classified into 17 categories. The results show that the existing literature is rich in analysing implemented policies and issues related to the strategies and organizational models of companies looking for a more sustainable path, and research in China and the European Union is highlighted. However, there is still a long way to go in researching implemented case studies and evaluating the economic impact of these concepts. For this to happen, the need to promote, encourage and support companies to implement cleaner production and approach a more sustainable path must be prioritised. Possible gaps in current research that allow future lines of work are also identified.

  • on research efficiency a micro analysis of dutch university research in economics and Business Management
    Research Policy, 2005
Co-Authors: Laurens Cherchye, P Vanden Abeele
    Abstract:

We argue that efficiency assessments of academic research should focus on micro-units of research production rather than on conventionally employed (aggregated) macro-units, and show that such a detailed analysis of research performance provides interesting insights. In addition, we propose a non-parametric methodology that is specially tailored for analyzing the productive efficiency of research: it starts from a specification of the managerial objectives of research activities while imposing minimal structure on the (typically unknown) production technology. We illustrate our points by assessing the productive efficiency of research in Economics and Business Management faculties at Dutch universities. Next to measuring productive efficiency, we look for specific patterns in efficiency distributions over universities, years and areas of specialization. In addition, we investigate the impact of external funding and of the size of research programs on academic research efficiency.

Most notably, our results show that a micro-analysis of research efficiency may yield a more effective allocation of the limited financial resources that are available.

  • measuring the impact of Business Management student s attitude towards entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intention a case study
    Computers in Human Behavior, 2020
    Co-Authors: R K Jena
    Abstract:

Abstract Entrepreneurship has played an essential role in economic prosperity and social stability of many developed countries. India has the highest percentage of young population in the world and faces massive challenges with its high levels of unemployment among the youth. The unemployment scenario primarily due to lack of skill and entrepreneurial awareness among youth. The objectives of this study were to (1) examine the cognitive, affective, and behavioural components of students’ attitude towards entrepreneurship education in Indian universities/colleges, (2) measuring the impact of students' attitude towards entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intention (3) examine the role of control variables (e.g. gender and entrepreneurial family background), on the relationship between attitude towards entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention. The respondents were students from different Business Management colleges/universities in central India. Purposive sampling technique was used in the selection of the colleges/universities, while simple random sampling was employed in the selection of the respondents. Data from five hundred nine filled questionnaire were analysed using ‘R Programing Language’ to obtain the results. The results showed a significant positive impact of attitude towards entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intention.
