velocity of detonation and Charge Diameter in some rdx driven heterogenous explosives pbxw 115 pbxn 111 h 6 and composition b
Journal of Energetic Materials, 1996Co-Authors: Daniel J Whelan, Robert J Swinton, Gunter BocksteinerAbstract:Abstract : Experimental data on the dependence of velocity of detonation on Charge Diameter, V(d), of unconfined cylindrical Charges of the underwater explosives, PBXW-115 (Aust), PBXN-111 and Composition H-6, and of Composition B, the explosive Charge fill offered by Nordic Defence Industries for the Danish Mine Disposal Charge, Damdic, are given. These data are analysed in terms of the previously-reported empirical relationship between the V(d), the detonation velocity at infinite Charge Diameter (D*) and the reaction zone length parameter, (a*).

velocity of detonation Charge Diameter and critical Diameter in unconfined rdx driven heterogeneous explosives
Journal of Energetic Materials, 1995Co-Authors: Daniel J Whelan, Gunter BocksteinerAbstract:Abstract The relationship between the experimentally-determined velocity of detonation of unconfined, cylindrical Charges of RDX-driven PBXs and composite explosives, V(d), and Charge Diameter, d, has been examined critically. It has been found that, for many formulations, the data can be fitted more satisfactorily to an elliptical relationship between V(d) and (1/d) than to a linear relationship but this depends, at least in part, on the particle size distribution and shape of the RDX used in the formulation. It has also been observed that the experimentally-determined critical Diameter of the formulation, dc, can be directly related to the linear coefficient in the elliptical V(d) / d relationship, a∗, by the equation, dc = 2.208 a∗. This leads to a practical outcome, namely:- that the critical Diameter of an explosive formulation may be estimated without the need to prepare a large number of Charges, very close to or less than the expected dc.

the influence of Charge Diameter of htpb ap composite propellant on shock wave ignition
Chinese Journal of Explosives and Propellants, 2006Co-Authors: Wei GuopingAbstract:The influence of Charge Diameter of the HTPB/AP composite propellant on the igniting performance was studied. The effect of Charge Diameter on the thickness of clapboard and intensity of shock wave was tested by means of clapboard experiments and the optimal Diameter was determined. The results show that there is a close relationship between the optimal Diameter of HTPB/AP composite propellant and the thickness of clapboard and intensity of shock wave. The optimal Diameter of ignition of composite propellant corresponding to ρ=1.563g/cm~3is 40mm. This experimental result has definite guiding significance for the design of composite propellant Charge in beneficiate perforator and the enhancement of the effectiveness and reliability of igniting of composite propellant Charge.

attenuation regularity of detonation wave of small Charge in pmma
Chinese Journal of Energetic Materials, 2009Co-Authors: Zhao HaixiaAbstract:The output shock wave pressure attenuated by different thicknesses of PMMA gaps of booster JO with small size Charge Diameter was measured by manganin piezoresistance method. The exponential regularity of the shock wave attenuation coefficient versus the Charge Diameter in PMMA was obtained by fitting experimental data. The load density of the booster was 90% of the theoretical density, and the Charge Diameter was 1.5 mm,3 mm,5 mm and 8 mm with confinement of 45# steel and PMMA.Results show that the attenuation coefficient tends to decrease with the increasing of the Charge Diameter under the same confinement. The confinement of the Charge is stronger, the change is more obvious.
