    ABSTRACTThe Cochrane Library of Systematic Reviews is now only published monthly online (http://www.theCochraneLibrary.com). The methods for searching have changed and are in flux. This report attempted to identify all relevant reviews published in the last 3 months to March 30, 2017. The current version contains 7243 complete reviews and 2544 protocols for reviews in production. In addition, there are citations of 1,036,153 randomized controlled trials (first time passing the million mark) and 15,700 cited papers in the Cochrane Methodology Register. The Health Technology Assessment database contains some 17,000 citations. Six reviews have been identified that have potential relevance for practitioners in pain and palliative medicine. The impact factor of the Cochrane Library stands at 6.1. Readers are encouraged to access the full report for any articles of interest, as only a brief commentary is provided.

    The Cochrane Library of Systematic Reviews is published quarterly. Issue three for 2004 of the Library was published in July 2004. The Cochrane Library now contains 3559 complete reviews and protocols of reviews. It also contains one-page summaries of systematic reviews published in the general (non-Cochrane) medical literature. In addition there are citations of randomized controlled trials, methodology reviews, the Cochrane methodology register and the health technology assessment database. This edition of the Library contains the results of an extensive search for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on EMBASE. The latest Library contains 75 new reviews, five of which are considered relevant to practitioners in pain and palliative care. References are published in the same format as the citation for Cochrane reviews.

The Health Technology Assessment database contains some 16,000 citations. One hundred and seventeen new reviews have been published in the previous 3 months, of which three have potential relevance for practitioners in pain and palliative medicine. The impact factor of the Cochrane Library stands at 6.1. Readers are encouraged to access the full report for any articles of interest, as only a brief commentary is provided. The CD version of the Cochrane Library will be discontinued and the Library will only available online in the future.

The field of gastroenterology and hepatology is represented within the Cochrane Collaboraton by four Cochrane review groups. The most prominent component of the Library is the database of systematic reviews, produced by the Cochrane Collaboration. These offer valid in- formation on relevant clinical topics based on comprehensive and skilful identification, evalua- tion and synthesis of clinical trials. Other compo- nents, Library access and an introduction into searching the Library are presented.
