    Abstract:

    We focus on recovering the 2D Euclidean structure in one view from the projections of N parallel conics in this paper. This work denotes that the conic dual to the absolute points is the general form of the conic dual to the circular points, but it does not encode the Euclidean structure. Therefore, we have to recover the circular point-envelope to find out some useful information about the Euclidean structure, which relies on the fact that the line at infinity and the symmetric Axis can be recovered. We provide a solution to recover the two lines and deduce the constraints for recovering the conic dual to the circular points, then apply them on the camera calibration. Our work relaxes the problem conditions and gives a more general framework than the past. Experiments with simulated and real data are carried out to show the validity of the proposed algorithm. Especially, our method is applied in the endoscope operation to calibrate the camera for tracking the surgical tools, that is the main interest-point we pay attention to.

    Abstract:

    The new design incorporates the negative ion source and the mass analyzer, both constructed from cylindrical electrodes. The ion source is formed by three gridded cylindrical electrodes: a pulsed grid, the intermediate grid and the final accelerating grid. During a first time lapse, the electrons penetrate through the pulsed grid into the retarding field between this grid and the intermediate grid. The electrons are turning at some depth inside this intergrid space, where the attachment to neutral molecules most probably occurs. Next, the pulsed grid becoming strongly negative and ions are extracted towards the final acceleration grid. The ions from the cylindrical surface where they were created concentrate on the Common Axis of the electrodes (lateral focusing). The source lateral and time focus are coincident. A cylindrical electrostatic mirror is fitted to the source. The design, with a single stage, ensures also lateral focusing of the ions diverging from the Common Axis of the electrodes. The mirror electric and geometric parameters were selected to ensure both lateral and time focusing on the final detector with subsequent high luminosity. The basic parameters of the specific negative ion source time-of-flight mass analyzer design proposed here, are ion source final acceleration, intermediate, pulsed cylindrical grid radii 10, 20 and 30 mm, respectively, electrostatic mirror earthed grid and ion turning points surface radii 0.6 and 0.8 m, respectively. Ion packet smearing by the ion energy spread (resulting from the initial electron energy spread as electrons are turning at different depths inside the ionization region, from the moment when ions were created, being accelerated towards the pulsed grid during ionization) and by the turnaround time inside the cylindrical field was accounted for. Maintaining very high sensitivity, a resolution of the order of 100 is expected.

    New network structures and topologies have been obtained from the reactions of different metal(II) sulfates with three bis(4-pyridyl) spacer ligands, that illustrate the influence of the SO42− anions in the self-assembly of polymeric coordination architectures. The products include [Fe(bpp)2(SO4)] [bpp = bis(4-pyridyl)propane] (1), [Cd(bpethy)(SO4)] [bpethy = bis(4-pyridyl)ethyne] (2), [Cu(bpe)(SO4)(H2O)]·2H2O [bpe = bis(4-pyridyl)ethane] (3), [Co2(bpe)3(SO4)2(MeOH)2]·xSolv (4) and [Ni6(bpe)10(H2O)16](SO4)6·xH2O (5). In compounds 1–4 the SO42− anions are directly involved in the polymeric frameworks, forming bridges that connect different metal centres. Compound 1 contains one-dimensional ribbons of rings joined by the anions to give a 3D array with the CdSO4-type topology. In compound 2 the Cd2+ cations are connected by μ4–η4-bridging anions to give 2D layers of linked octahedra and tetrahedra, that are joined by the bpethy ligands into a 3D array. The structure of compound 3 consists of simple Cu(bpe) chains linked by the anions into 2D sheets. Compound 4 is a complex polymer comprised of highly undulated 2D layers of folded quadrilateral meshes; the layers are deeply interdigitated and joined together by the anions, thus resulting in an unique 3D architecture containining 6- and 4-connected cobalt centres. Compound 5 is the more interesting species in that it is an entangled array of three distinct sets of layers. It contains two different types of 4-connected 2D motifs, i.e. undulated layers of rectangular meshes and square grid layers, in a ratio of 2 ∶ 1. The three sets are parallel to a Common Axis but show a relative rotation of ca. 120° about it, giving a Common Axis, giving inclined interweaving in an unprecedented ‘parallel/parallel/parallel’ fashion, to generate a unique 3D architecture.

    Abstract Objective This study presents the current prevalence of Axis I and Axis II psychiatric diagnoses and factors associated with the existence of Axis I psychiatric disorders in patients with chronic idiopathic urticaria (CIU). Method The study sample was composed of 89 patients with CIU and 64 control subjects. Axis I and Axis II psychiatric disorders were ascertained by means of the Structured Clinical Interview for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition and the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM, Revised Third Edition Personality Disorders, respectively. Results Of patients with CIU, 44 (49.4%) had at least one Axis I diagnosis, and 40 (44.9%) had at least one personality disorder. The most Common Axis I disorder was obsessive–compulsive disorder (25.8%), and the most Common Axis II disorder was obsessive–compulsive (30.3%) personality disorder in patients with CIU. Obsessive–compulsive disorder, major depression, obsessive–compulsive and avoidant personality disorders were more prevalent in patient group compared to control group. Obsessive-compulsive and avoidant personality disorders were related to the existence of Axis I disorders in patients with CIU. Conclusion Psychiatric morbidity seems to be a frequent healthy problem in patients with CIU.

    Abstract Objective The objective was to determine the current prevalence of Axis I and Axis II psychiatric diagnoses in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Method The study sample included 73 patients with PCOS and 73 control subjects. Psychiatric disorders were determined by structured clinical interviews. Results The rate of any Axis I psychiatric disorder (28.8% vs. 15.1%), social phobia (13.7% vs. 2.7%), generalized anxiety disorder (11.0% vs. 1.4%), any Axis II psychiatric disorder (23.3% vs. 9.6%) and avoidant personality disorder (12.3% vs. 1.4%) was significantly more Common in the patient group compared to the control group. Of women with PCOS, 21 (28.8%) had at least one Axis I and 17 (23.3%) had at least one Axis II diagnosis. The most Common Axis I disorder was social phobia (13.7%) and the most Common Axis II disorder was avoidant personality disorder (12.3%) in women with PCOS. Social phobia, generalized anxiety disorder, and avoidant personality disorder were significantly more Common in the patient group compared to the control group. Conclusion Our results suggest that a considerable proportion of women with PCOS also present with anxiety and personality disorders.
