    arXiv: Computers and Society, 2019
    Co-Authors: Yuriy Syerov, Solomia Fedushko
    Abstract:

This article considers the current problem of investigation and development of computerlinguistic analysis of socio-demographic profile of virtual Community Member. WebMembers' socio-demographic characteristics' profile validation based on analysis of sociodemographic characteristics. The topicality of the paper is determined by the necessity to identify the web-Community Member by means of computer-linguistic analysis of their information track. The formal model of basic socio-demographic characteristics of virtual communities' Member is formed. The structural model of lingvo-communicative indicators of socio-demographic characteristics of the web-Members and common algorithm of the formation of lingvo-communicative indicators based on processing training sample are developed. Types of the computer-linguistic analysis of indicative characteristics are studied and classifications of lingvo-communicative indicators of gender, age and sphere of activities of web-Community Member is established. Also, the formal model of the basic socio-demographic characteristics of web-communities' Member is introduced.

    Abstract:

The important task of developing verification system of data of virtual Community Member on the basis of computer-linguistic analysis of the content of a large sample of Ukrainian virtual communities is solved. The subject of research is methods and tools for verification of web-Members socio-demographic characteristics based on computer-linguistic analysis of their communicative interaction results. The aim of paper is to verifying web-user personal data on the basis of computer-linguistic analysis of web-Members information tracks. The structure of verification software for web-user profile is designed for a practical implementation of assigned tasks. The method of personal data verification of web-Members by analyzing information track of virtual Community Member is conducted. For the first time the method for checking the authenticity of web Members personal data, which helped to design of verification tool for socio-demographic characteristics of web-Member is developed. The verification system of data of web-Members, which forms the verified socio-demographic profiles of web-Members, is developed as a result of conducted experiments. Also the user interface of the developed verification system web-Members data is presented. Effectiveness and efficiency of use of the developed methods and means for solving tasks in web-communities administration is proved by their approbation. The number of false results of verification system is 18%.

    Abstract:

This article considers the current problem of investigation and development of data verification of virtual Community Member by means of computer-linguistic analysis of web-Members socio-demographic profiles for web-Community Member identification. The algorithm of formation system of lingvo-communicative indicators based the training selection of web-forum Members is designed. This algorithm includes the formation of matrix of linguistic-communicative indicators and lingvo-communicative indicator weight coefficient determination. The computer-linguistic analysis of web-Community Members' information tracks is realized and verification of lingvo-communicative indicators of gender, age and sphere of activities of web-Community Member is established. Based on these results of the investigation the software algorithm of web-Community Members' socio-demographic profiles verification is designed and software "Verifier of the socio-demographic profile" is exploited. The account personal data adequacy of web-Community Member is determined by means of computation of the measure of the adequacy of personal account data. The calculation method of reliability of the result of the socio-demographic characteristics verification of web-Community Member is developed for constructing the socio-demographic profile of the web-Member for web-Community management.

  • inadequate knowledge about snakebite envenoming symptoms and application of harmful first aid methods in the Community in high snakebite incidence areas of myanmar
    PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2019
Co-Authors: Mohammad Afzal Mahmood, Dale Halliday, Robert G Cumming, Khin Thida Thwin, Mya Myitzu, Julian White, Sam Alfred, David A Warrell, David Bacon, Win Naing
    Abstract:

Introduction Every year millions of people in developing countries suffer from snakebite, causing a large number of deaths and long term complications. Prevention and appropriate first aid could reduce the incidence and improve the health outcomes for those who suffer bites. However, many communities where snakebite is a major issue suffer from a lack of information about prevention and first aid measures that a family or Community Member could take to prevent severe envenoming, complications and poor outcomes. Myanmar suffers from a high burden of snakebites with a large number of deaths. As part of a health services and Community development program, a Community survey was conducted to identify communities’ knowledge about snakebite and their sequelae, and knowledge and practice about first aid and health services use. Method 4,276 rural residents of Kyaukse and Madaya townships in the Mandalay region were recruited by cluster sampling, involving random selection of 144 villages and random sampling of 30 households from each village. One adult Member of each household was interviewed using a structured questionnaire. Results The incidence of snakebite was 116/100,000 people. Respondents reported 15 different types of snakes in the area, with Russell’s Viper, Cobra and Green snakes as the most common. 88% of the people informed that working in the fields and forests was when most of the bites occur. A majority knew about snakebite prevention methods such as wearing long boots. However, only a few people knew about the specific symptoms caused by snakebites. Only 39% knew about the correct methods of first aid. More than 60% mentioned tourniquet as a first aid method, though this may cause significant complications such as ischaemia of the limb. 88% said that they would take a snakebite victim to a government hospital, and 58% mentioned availability of antivenom as the reason for doing this. At the same time, the majority mentioned that traditional methods existed for first aid and treatment and 25% mentioned at least one harmful traditional method as an effective measure that they might use. Conclusion The Community is aware of snakebites as a major public health issue and know how to prevent them. However, the high incidence of snakebites point to lack of application of preventive methods. The Community recognise the need for treatment with antivenom. However, inadequate knowledge about appropriate first aid methods, and a reliance on using tourniquets require a targeted education program. Existing knowledge in communities, albeit insufficient, provides a good starting point for mass media educational campaigns.

  • incorporating traditional healing into an urban american indian health organization a case study of Community Member perspectives
    Journal of Counseling Psychology, 2012
    Co-Authors: William E Hartmann, Joseph P Gone
    Abstract:

Facing severe mental health disparities rooted in a complex history of cultural oppression, Members of many urban American Indian (AI) communities are reaching out for indigenous traditional healing to augment their use of standard Western mental health services. Because detailed descriptions of approaches for making traditional healing available for urban AI communities do not exist in the literature, this Community-based project convened 4 focus groups consisting of 26 Members of a midwestern urban AI Community to better understand traditional healing practices of interest and how they might be integrated into the mental health and substance abuse treatment services in an Urban Indian Health Organization (UIHO). Qualitative content analysis of focus group transcripts revealed that ceremonial participation, traditional education, culture keepers, and Community cohesion were thought to be key components of a successful traditional healing program. Potential incorporation of these components into an urban environment, however, yielded 4 marked tensions: traditional healing protocols versus the realities of impoverished urban living, multitribal representation in traditional healing services versus relational consistency with the culture keepers who would provide them, enthusiasm for traditional healing versus uncertainty about who is trustworthy, and the integrity of traditional healing versus the appeal of alternative medicine. Although these tensions would likely arise in most urban AI clinical contexts, the way in which each is resolved will likely depend on tailored Community needs, conditions, and mental health objectives.
