a Competing Motivation
Ökologisches Wirtschaften - Fachzeitschrift, 2016Co-Authors: Ines ThronickerAbstract:Although environmental awareness is a strong Motivation, even for highly engaged individuals it has to compete with other Motivations in guiding behaviour. A process-oriented approach to this dilemma allows for alternative behaviour and continuous engagement. That approach might be transferred also to organizational units.

Infralimbic Cortex Biases Preference Decision Making for Offspring over Competing Cocaine-Associated Stimuli in New Mother Rats.
eNeuro, 2020Co-Authors: Mariana Pereira, Joan I. MorrellAbstract:Abstract In the context of drug abuse, converging evidence suggests that cocaine use in new mothers is significantly reduced by the Competing Motivation related to child rearing. Given the demonstrated importance of the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) in decision-making processes, we investigated the contribution of distinct regions of the mPFC [anterior cingulate (Cg1), prelimbic (PrL), infralimbic (IL)] to decision making in new mother rats performing a concurrent pup/cocaine choice conditioned place preference (CPP) task. When given a choice, inactivation of IL cortex significantly biased decision making of mother rats toward cocaine-associated cues, highly contrasting the distribution of preferences by control groups. In contrast, inactivation of PrL cortex had the opposite effect, significantly increasing offspring bias in the decision making, such that none of the mothers chose the cocaine-associated alternative. Cg1 inactivation was without effect. Functional inactivation of these same mPFC subregions had no effect in a non-conflict CPP task in which context-induced cocaine or pup seeking were examined separately. Notably, inactivation of the IL cortex also interfered with maternal behavior. Taken together, we have identified a specific role of the IL cortex in the prioritization of offspring over drug Competing alternatives, thus promoting resistance to drug use in new mothers.

The Opportunity for Re-inventing Corporate Governance in Joint Venture Companies
Corporate Governance: An International Review, 2000Co-Authors: John CarverAbstract:Joint venture boards – compared with widely held companies – may prove more amenable to changes in corporate governance theory that significantly alter traditional patterns for directors, chairmen, and chief executive officers. Parent companies’ control over directors is more direct than that exercised by widely scattered shareholders or even institutional investors. Therefore, parent companies have a vested interest in joint venture board strength in order that parents be fittingly represented. Yet they also understand the crucial importance of relatively robust management. This dual, albeit Competing, Motivation makes attractive any approach to governance that assures strong directors, a rigorous chain of accountability, and, at the same time, an appropriately empowered chief executive. The author’s Policy Governance model offers these improvements to board leadership, but compels fundamental changes from traditional board practice. The ownership circumstances found in joint venture companies are favourable for implementing the new paradigm.

HUBUNGAN ANTARA MOTIVASI BERKOMPETISI DENGAN PROKRASTINASI AKADEMIK PADA SISWA SMA NEGERI 1 SALATIGA
2014Co-Authors: Ferry Afriyan Komara, SetyawanAbstract:Credit Semester System give opportunity for students to finish their study faster than usual. For finish all of task greatly, the students should manage times really good to do not academic procrastination. Which one factor that influence academic procrastination is Motivation. The purpose of this research is to know the relation between Competing Motivation with academic procrastination in students of 1 Senior High School Salatiga City which had using Credit Semester System, and how much Competing Motivation give effective contribution to academic procrastination. Population research is students of 1 Senior High School Salatiga who had use Credit Semester System as long as their study, numbered 451 in 17 classroom. The sampling technique is done by cluster random sampling. Collecting data on this research is using academic procrastination scale (29 item α = 0,917) and Competing Motivation (29 item α = 0,889). Data analysis performed by simple regression analysis, Based on analysis of data obtained is the correlation coefficient value (rxy) -0,657 with p = (p
