Materials, 1998Co-Authors: M Sansalone, W B StreettAbstract:Recent research on the use of the impact-echo method for nondestructively determining the thickness of slabs and pavements has led to the development of a technique and instrumentation for determining the wave speed in Concrete using impact-generated stress waves. This method is independent of the geometry of the structure and uses time-of-flight measurements for determining the depth of vertical, inclined, curved, and air- or water-filled surface-opening cracks in Concrete. Knowledge of the dilatational (P-) wave speed is obtained independently from accurate travel time measurements of the P-wave along the surface of the Concrete. This paper discusses the theory and equations that form the basis for the method. Numerical and laboratory results are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of the method. Experimental results are obtained using the same instrumentation (impactors, broadband transducer, and data-acquisition hardware and software) that is used in wave speed measurements and in impact-echo testing.

Their objective is to improve the quality of the contributions people make to their organizations by helping them to make sense of the context within which the organization exists; to take responsibility, cooperate, and share what they know and learn; and to effectively challenge, negotiate, and learn from others. We consider how the concepts, tools, and techniques of organizational Knowledge management can be applied to the professional practices and development of teachers. We describe a framework for Knowledge management support for teachers where the sharing of Concrete Knowledge scaffolds the attainment of more abstract levels of Knowledge sharing. We describe the development of a Knowledge management support system emphasizing long-term participatory design relationships between technologists and teachers, regional cooperation among teachers in adjacent school divisions, the integration of communication and practice, synchronous and asynchronous interactions, and multiple metaphors for organizing Knowledge resources and activities.

This study develops a grounded theory of flow experiences of the users of a large shopping platform, shedding light on the theoretical relationships between Concrete realizable website design options, corresponding latent constructs, and the flow experience.
