GFI Network Security and PCI Compliance Power Tools, 2009Co-Authors: Brien PoseyAbstract:This chapter discusses some aspects of using the Configuration Console. Monitoring checks are performed at the folder level. If one selects a folder, one can see the monitoring checks that exist for that particular folder. GFI Network Server Monitor assigns the monitoring checks that make sense for servers associated with a given folder. Sometimes, one may have a server whose role changes or may want to modify or customize a folder's monitoring checks for other reasons. Fortunately, this is not hard to do. One has the ability to modify any of the monitoring checks. To do so, one needs to just right-click the monitoring check and choose the Properties command from the shortcut menu. When this is done, the Console will display the monitoring check's properties sheet. Any of the properties associated with a monitoring check can be modified, but usually one will be most interested in the properties sheet's Check Parameters tab. This is the tab that specifies the monitoring check's threshold value or other monitoring parameters.

Global Engineering Education Conference, 2015Co-Authors: Neville PalmerAbstract:A dedicated networking laboratory is used by students on a computer networking degree program so that they can undertake practical work without affecting the main University network. Images of the laboratory computers are maintained on a server and deployed when major updates or reConfigurations of the computers are required. Improvements can be made in the Configuration and management processes. Automation can help realize some of these improvements. A server based application for automating the networking laboratory, named Remote Configuration Console, has been developed using PowerShell scripts and Microsoft Visual C#. This paper discusses the design and development of the application and its effectiveness in improving the Configuration and management processes. This paper concludes that the application has been successful in improving the efficiency of processes and that the knowledge gained during development can be used to inform the curriculum of the computer networking program itself. Future work will involve investigating how this can be achieved and also validating the results of this work during the academic year.

2019Co-Authors: Montoya Orozco, Carlos FabianAbstract:La prueba de habilidades en el siguiente trabajo busca identificar las competencias que se generaron después de haber cursado los 2 módulos de CCNA, en los cuales se integraron conceptos básicos de las redes, direccionamiento ip, seguridad, topología física, tipología lógica, implementación de seguridad de la red administración de dispositivos y gestión de recursos para la implementación de redes CISCO, es importante además destacar que cada uno de los parámetros que se ejecutaron buscaban solucionar un problema en particular, teniendo en cuenta cada uno de los recursos anteriores se gestionó de manera directa las aplicaciones en el escenario1 y escenario2. La integración de conocimientos adquiridos y aplicaciones a destrezas alcanzadas en el curso aplicando asignación de redes, configuración de router mediante comandos básicos y avanzados que permitían corroborar el funcionamiento de cada uno de los escenarios, cada uno e los niveles de comprensión que se usó para su desarrollo en los diferentes escenarios permitían relacionar los diversos aspectos de networking en la aplicación del mismo. Con recursos de subneteo al inicio de la actividad en parámetros de red, tipología física y lógica, aplicación de comandos entre otros como asignación de interfaces a router, conexiones en switch y demás dispositivos desde la consola de configuración para cada una de las terminales actuales. En el presente trabajo se busca mostrar al lector la secuencia de acciones que se realizaron en la red y la búsqueda de la solución a los problemas planteados en la evaluación- prueba de habilidades prácticas CCNA. CodeBLUE: a bluetooth interactive dance club system

Dancers using the codeBLUE system wear clothing incorporating Bluetooth-enabled sensors that measure and transmit information about the dancers' movements to a Bluetooth access point positioned in the demonstration area, which in turn forwards the information to a control system. The system software transforms the simple dance movements into musical modifications in real time, altering the melodic, rhythmic, and dynamic properties of the music stream in terms of MIDI parameters. A Configuration Console allows the DJ to modify the effects that each type of sensor produces, providing him or her yet another channel of creativity and keeping the codeBLUE experience fresh for participants. The paper describes the architecture, design, and hardware and software implementation of the codeBLUE proof-of-concept prototype. The paper also discusses our evaluation of the technology used for this application. The system has been successfully demonstrated to a live audience.
