open source Content Management System cms for smart city hrm application
Social Science Research Network, 2020Co-Authors: Kausik Saha, Jayanta PorayAbstract:Human Resource Management is necessary for proper utilization and effective use of existing skilled workforce in the organization. There are lots of ready HRM applications available in market, but those are not very user friendly; and as well as costly in respect to customization, maintenance and security. It is not possible for all organizations to afford this huge cost and time. To analyse, it is very much necessary to point out and describe the basic characteristics of today’s open-source Content Management Systems (CMSs). Particularly, to review its effectiveness for develop the HRM applications is an interesting consideration for CMSs. The overall result indicates that use of an Open-source CMS for development of a HRM Application keeps the organization economically viable and also competitive in market. The reason behind this are the less development cost, customization time is less, update and maintenance cost is negligible and the System is highly secure. The purpose of this work is to support modern applications like Smart City HRM using open source CMSs.

Tool-use in a Content Management System: a matter of timing?
Learning Environments Research, 2014Co-Authors: Griet Lust, Mieke Vandewaetere, Jan Elen, Geraldine ClareboutAbstract:Given the rising popularity of Content Management Systems (CMSs) in higher education, we investigated how students use the available CMS tools, as well as whether the moment of using a CMS tool affects students’ learning. This temporal dimension has been neglected in current research on CMS use. More insight into students’ tool-use is particularly important from an instructional design perspective because research has repeatedly revealed that a learning environments’ effectiveness depends heavily on students’ adaptive tool-use. Data were collected by logging the frequency and the time students (158) use the available tools within a CMS. Repeated-measures analyses revealed that students’ tool-use changed throughout the course, a dynamism that was different for each tool and was related to course-specific deadlines. Significant temporal student differences were found for some types of tools. Furthermore, students’ course performance was significantly impacted by the moment students used the course material outlines and the discussion board. In line with expectations, effects were different dependent on the tool. Hence, by examining students’ tool-use from a temporal perspective, this study highlighted that the timing of use matters. Furthermore, this timing depends on tool functionality. Consequently, the results have interesting implications for designing CMSs and they suggest implications for releasing some type of CMS tools at specific moments in the learning process.

online measurement perspectives for students strategy use tool use within a Content Management System
Education Research International, 2012Co-Authors: Griet Lust, Jan Elen, Geraldine ClareboutAbstract:The current study investigates whether students’ tool use in a Content Management Systems (CMSs) for example, blackboard, WebCT, relates to students’ strategy use within a CMS-supported course. In this way, the study strives to explain the tool use differences, and furthermore, it strives to find (online) behavioral indications for students’ strategy use. Data were collected within a first-year undergraduate course “Learning & Instruction”. Students ( n = 182 ) reported their strategy use as measured through the Inventory of Learning Styles (Vermunt, 1998). Students’ tool use within the CMS was logged. K-means cluster analyses revealed four clusters that were characterized by different strategies and accompanying tool use. Specifically, two clusters revealed a tool use pattern that was in line with the behavioral profile of students’-reported strategy use. Interestingly, two clusters revealed a tool use pattern that was in contrast to the reported strategy use. These results raise questions with respect to students’ tool perceptions and students’ calibration capacities.

scaffolding the infrastructure of the computational science digital library
ACM IEEE Joint Conference on Digital Libraries, 2006Co-Authors: David Joiner, Michael Bruce, Jonathan Stuartmoore, Diana TanaseAbstract:This paper describes from a developer's point of view the integration of a Content Management System (Plone) and a metadata repository (CWIS) in order to create an interactive online digital library for publishing and evaluation of computational science materials. It explains how CSERD's project requirements were addressed by setting up a framework for collaboration between the two Systems mentioned above.

low cost managed digital signage System with signage device using small sized and low cost information device
Consumer Communications and Networking Conference, 2017Co-Authors: Kazuhiro Mishima, Takeshi Sakurada, Yoichi HagiwaraAbstract:The Digital Signage Systems using some computer devices are widely used for displaying some dynamic information, unlike wall ads that are unchanged for a certain period. At the replacement time of our university's digital signage System, we need to implement cost effective digital signage System. Therefore, we developed a brand-new style of the digital signage display device using low-cost information device and open intensive Management System. In this demonstration, we introduce the total signage System, that include 1) the signage display device, and 2) the digital signage device / Content Management System.
