the command decision method of multiple uuv cooperative task assignment based on contract net protocol the command decision method of multiple uuv cooperative task assignment based on contract net protocol
Journal of Systems Science and Information, 2016Co-Authors: Yujie Xiao, Dingxiong ZhangAbstract:With the help of multiple UCAV cooperative task control model, the mathematical model of multiple UUV cooperative task control is made. Variables related to decision are broken into goals, guidelines and programs levels by Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), on this basis; the command decision of multiple UUV task assignment is achieved. The correctness of task allocation algorithm is verified by case analysis. Time calculation formulas for a task assignment are given. The changes of overall effectiveness in the process of task allocation are analyzed, the time changes of each sub task allocation time in one task assignment are analyzed, the time changes of the number of tasks and platforms respectively fixed in task allocation are also discussed.

effect of alternative distributed task allocation strategy based on local observations in contract net protocol
Pacific Rim International Conference on Multi-Agents, 2010Co-Authors: Toshiharu Sugawara, Kensuke Fukuda, Toshio Hirotsu, Satoshi KuriharaAbstract:This paper presents a distributed task allocation method whose strategies are alternatively selected based on the estimated workloads of the local agents. Recent Internet, sensor-network, and cloud computing applications are large-scale and fully-distributed, and thus, require sophisticated multi-agent system technologies to enable a large number of programs and computing resources to be effectively used. To elicit the capabilities of all the agents in a large-scale multi-agent system (LSMAS) in which thousands of agents work concurrently requires a new negotiation strategy for appropriately allocating tasks in a distributed manner. We start by focusing on the contract net protocol (CNP) in LSMAS and then examine the effects of the awardee selection strategies, that is, the task allocation strategies. We will show that probabilistic awardee selections improve the overall performance in specific situations. Next, the mixed strategy in which a number of awardee selections are alternatively used based on the analysis of the bid from the local agents is proposed. Finally, we show that the proposed strategy does not only avoid task concentrations but also reduces the wasted efforts, thus it can considerably improve the performance.

A bidding decision model in multiagent supply chain planning
International Journal of Production Research, 2001Co-Authors: Hu Qinghe, Arun Kumar, Zhang ShuangAbstract:The multiagent environment for supply chain planning application is based on a framework unifying the internal behaviour of agents and coordination among agents. This system presents a formal view of coordination using contract net protocol (CNP) that relies on the basic loop of agent behaviours: order receiving, order announcement, bid calculation, and order scheduling followed by order execution. Among these, bid calculation is most difficult. It needs to determine the quantity, cost and time in which a new order can be implemented. Fuzzy programming has made progress in mathematics since Bellman and Zadeh (1970) first studied decision-making in a fuzzy mathematics programming. Currently there are many valuable works in this field (Zimmermann 1983, 1985, Tanaka and Asai 1984) and fuzzy programming has become an effective tool to deal with the decision-making problems in fuzzy systems. Similarly, stochastic programming is a useful tool to treat decision-making problems in a stochastic system (Kolbin 1977...

an autonomous multi agent approach to supply chain event management
International Journal of Production Economics, 2012Co-Authors: Lorena Bearzotti, Enrique Salomone, Omar ChiottiAbstract:Abstract Organizations have made a significant effort to implement software for planning and scheduling, but disruptive event management is still a problem to be solved. Since a disruptive event can affect the overall performance of the supply chain, SCEM (Supply Chain Event Management) systems presenting different automation levels such as monitoring, alarm and decision support have been proposed. However, the management of disruptive events, taking into account the distributed nature of the supply chain, the members' autonomy and the ability to exert corrective control actions, has been identified as a problem that requires further research. This work presents an agent-based approach for the SCEM problem, which can perform autonomous corrective control actions to minimize the effect of deviations in the plan that is currently being executed. These control actions consist of a distribution of the variation between supply chain members, using the plan's slack in a collaborative way. An innovative feature of this approach is its focus on resources, which are affected by disruptive events in a direct way. Based on this approach, a SCEM system is designed as a net of control points defined on resources connected through supply process orders. Two novel aspects are the distributed collaborative inter-organizational architecture of the SCEM system and a Double contract net protocol. This protocol allows a set of resource:representing agents to interact through an agent, representing a supply process order as a mediator. An application to a case study of the Multi-Agent SCEM system implemented with JADE is provided.

agent based interaction protocols and topologies for manufacturing task allocation
Systems Man and Cybernetics, 2013Co-Authors: Mohammad Owliya, Mozafar Saadat, G G Jules, M Goharian, Rachid AnaneAbstract:This paper focuses on interaction protocols and topologies of multiagent systems (MASs) for task allocation, particularly in manufacturing application. Resource agents in manufacturing are members of a network whose possible logical topologies and governing interaction protocol influence the scheduling and control in the MAS. Four models are presented in this paper, each having specific rules and characteristics for scheduling and task allocation. Two models out of the four use a well-known standard interaction method [contract-net protocol (CNP)], while the others are proposed in this paper. The newly proposed models are based on ring topology and algorithms developed in the research. A Java-based MAS was also developed to simulate different scenarios of task allocation and to compare the four models in terms of some scheduling performance indicators, using cases from manufacturing. The results produced meaningful differences between the four models, including their strengths and weaknesses. Two models, namely, modified ring and CNP-based peer-to-peer, gave superior performance compared with the others. Furthermore, the proposed modified ring exhibits significant potential in handling manufacturing task allocation applications.
