    Abstract:

    Among the 32 tribes of Coreinae currently recognized, Spartocerini comprises 66 extant species distributed in six genera: Euagona Dallas, Eubule Stal, Menenotus Laporte, Molchina Amyot & Serville, Sephina Amyot & Serville and Spartocera Laporte, distributed exclusively in the Western Hemisphere. We performed cladistic analyses using equal (EW) and also implied weighting (IW) based on 56 terminals (23 belonging to the ingroup) and 115 morphological characters, including male and female genitalia. Spartocerini was polyphyletic both under EW and IW because Molchina was nested in Mictini. We remove Molchina from Spartocerini and consider the genus as incertae sedis. Spartocera, Eubule, and Sephina were not recovered as monophyletic. Sephina pubera (Erichson) is considered as incertae sedis within Spartocerini, Eubule ampliata Valdes is transferred to Spartocera as a new combination, and Mamurius is included in Anisoscelini.

    Abstract:

    The genus Stenometapodus Breddin, 1903 (Coreidae: Coreinae: Acanthocephalini) is redescribed and one new species, Stenometapodus aurantiacus sp. nov., is described from Brazil. The new species is distinguished by a combination of color patterns and morphological characters, such as the shape of pronotum. A key to the known species of Stenometapodus is included. A new genus, Zygometapodus gen. nov., is proposed for Stenometapodus castaneus Blote, 1938. New distribution records for Zygometapodus castaneus (Blote, 1938) comb. nov. from Bolivia and Peru are provided. Dorsal photos of each species of Stenometapodus and Zygometapodus are also provided.

    Abstract:

    Three new species of Anasa Amyot & Serville, 1843 (Coreidae: Coreinae: Coreini), A. cotopaxiana sp. nov., A. crinita sp. nov., and A. humerata sp. nov., from Ecuador are described and illustrated in dorsal and some in ventral view. The new species are distinguished by a combination of colouration patterns and certain morphological traits, such as the shape of the pronotum and the posteroventral edge of the male genital capsule, as well as the armature of the antenniferous tubercles and femora. Drawings of the male genital capsules and a revised key for the sixteen known species of Anasa from Ecuador are also provided.

    Abstract. Neoquintius aracelianus new species, from Ecuador and Stentoquintius hasselinus new species, from Venezuela are described in the tribe Nematopodini (Coreidae); both are compared with the related species. Dorsal habitus photos, and drawings of male genital capsule are included. Keys to the known species of each genera are included.

    Abstract:

    Guilbertocoris guianensis gen. & sp. nov from French Guyana, Moronopelios flavoantennatus sp. nov. from Ecuador, and Moronopelios nigritus sp. nov. from Brazil (Amazonas) and Peru are described and included in the tribe Acanthocerini (Coreidae: Coreinae). The relationships of these two genera are discussed. A detailed redescription of Moronopelios Brailovsky, 1988 and a key to identify its four known species are included. Photographs and drawings of the male genital capsule and parameres are added.

  • Análise cladística de Spartocerini Amyot & Serville, 1843 (HEMIPTERA, HETEROPTERA, Coreidae)

    Abstract:

    Spartocerini (Hemiptera, Coreidae, Coreinae) inclui atualmente seis gêneros, com distribuição nas regiões Neártica e Neotropical. Não há, até o momento, hipóteses filogenéticas para os componentes da tribo, e tampouco sua monofilia foi testada. Autores já indicavam o posicionamento de Molchina Amyot & Serville como incerto dentro de Spartocerini. A ausência de sinapomorfias exclusivas e de análises cladísticas na literatura apontam para a necessidade de se testar a monofilia da tribo. Assim, foi realizada análise cladística, com pesagem implícita sob o método de Mirande, com 46 táxons terminais e matriz contendo 76 caracteres morfológicos discretos e não ordenados. Foi utilizado o software TNT e polarização dos caracteres se deu através do método de comparação com grupo externo. O fit da topologia e dos caracteres, bem como os valores de Bremer relativo, foram obtidos posteriormente com o mesmo software. Os 11 valores de K, obtidos através do método de Mirande, resultaram em cinco árvores distintas. A topologia final foi obtida através das maiores somas de SPRdif e dentre estas a com maior valor de K, a fim de não penalizar demasiadamente as homoplasias. A monofilia de Spartocerini não foi corroborada, já que a tribo formou dois clados distintos. Molchina posicionou-se entre os Nematopodini, enquanto os demais membros de Spartocerini, Spartocera, Sephina, Eubule, Euagona e Menenotus, formaram um clado distinto, tendo como grupo irmão algumas das espécies de Hypselonotini. A análise também sugere a parafilia de Spartocera e Eubule, contudo a baixa amostragem de espécies de Eubule e Sephina pode ter contribuído para este resultado. Este fato, aliado à ausência de sinapomorfias para a tribo, a não inclusão de caracteres do complexo ectodermal das fêmeas e possivelmente de tribos não americanas de Coreinae impedem, por enquanto, novas propostas de classificações taxonômicas
