A Study on Spatial Differentiation of Cultural Facility Utilization in Beijing——A Case Study of Museums,Gymnasiums and Galleries
Social Sciences of Beijing, 2010Co-Authors: Zhang Jing-qiuAbstract:Based on analysis of spatial distribution of museums, gymnasiums and galleries in Beijing and the result of a survey of Cultural facility utilization,it is concluded that spatial differentiation of the three kinds of Cultural Facilities in Beijing is obvious, involving disparities between north and south, inner and outer part,as well as different districts of the city.Meanwhile, aspatial factors such as age, income, family structure and educational background also exert an important influence on Cultural facility utilization. With the effects of both spatial and aspatial factors, obvious spatial differentiation of Cultural facility utilization is well demonstrated. To a certain degree, the unbalanced distribution gives rise to inequality between citizens in different districts. In addition, the demand does not match with supply.Based on what has been discussed, the paper gives some suggestions about the construction of Cultural Facilities.

A Study on Spatial Distribution of Cultural Facilities and Cultural Function in Beijing
Social Sciences of Beijing, 2004Co-Authors: Zhang Jing-qiuAbstract:Beijing is the capital and the culture center of China. Cultural function is the main function of the city. Based on the analysis of Beijing city's Cultural Facilities and distribution, the thesis divides the development process of Cultural function into three periods:from 1950s to 1970s,from 1980s to 1990s and after 1990s. At present, the main problem of Beijing is the unbalanced distribution between the south and the north area and lack of the key axis of Cultural space.Beijing should adjust the Cultural function distribution, improve the sub-functions of Cultural in all districts and develop the Chang Anjie axis for the Cultural function.
