Curriculum Research: Toward a Framework for "Research-based Curricula"
Journal for Research in Mathematics Education, 2007Co-Authors: Douglas H. ClementsAbstract:Government agencies and members of the educational Research community have petitioned for Research-based curricula. The ambiguity of the phrase “Research-based,” however, undermines attempts to create a shared Research foundation for the development of, and informed choices about, classroom curricula. This article presents a framework for the construct of Research-based curricula. One implication is that traditional strategies such as market Research and Research-to-practice models are insufficient; more adequate is the use of multiple phases of the proffered Curriculum Research Framework.

The Implications of Grounded Theory on Curriculum Research

Effective Curriculum Research development in FE ITE: Linking the theoretic to the practical in education programmes
2017Co-Authors: Gordon Ade-ojo, Heather Booth-martinsAbstract:This presentation explores the structure of Curriculum development programmes in FE ITE to see the extent to which they help to promote Curriculum Research. Given the desire to promote Research informed teaching, it argues that trainee teachers need to be equipped with the skills required for carrying out Research on specific issues. Using the existing paradigm of the theoretric and the practical, it suggests that the current programmes are more theoretically orientated. It then draws on elements of the programmes to demonstrate how the existing focus can be made more practical.
