  • Decorative Coatings produced using combination of reactive arc evaporation and magnetron sputtering
    Surface and Coatings Technology, 1997
    Co-Authors: K.c. Shimpi, K. Ravindranath, A.k. Jani, D.c. Kothari, C.s. Harindranath
    Abstract:

Composite Coatings, consisting mainly of transition metal nitride and gold-alloy thin films, are produced on stainless steel substrates using a combination of reactive arc evaporation and magnetron sputtering. The Coatings are evaluated for their porosity, damage due to arcing, perspiration and adhesion. Thickness, surface roughness, surface morphology, hue and gloss are also determined. Based on these tests and measurements, a Decorative Coating is developed for an application to wrist-watch straps. The study on optimization of process parameters for the Coating is presented in this paper.

  • Laporan Kerja Praktek PT. Pabrik Cat Tunggal Djaja Indah 1 Juli - 20 Agustus 2019
'Journal of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Gazi University', 2019
Co-Authors: . Tresia, Pangestu, Felisia Cahyani
    Abstract:

PT. PT. Pabrik Cat Tunggal Djaja Indah memproduksi berbagai jenis cat, yaitu Decorative Coating (water and solvent based), Automotive Coating, Floor Coating, Industrial Coating, Heavy Duty Coating, dan water proof paint.

  • Microstructure, surface and electrochemical studies of electroless Cr–P Coatings tailored for the methanol oxidative fuel cell
Journal of Solid State Electrochemistry, 2005
    Co-Authors: C N Tharamani, F. Shafia Hoor, Noor Shahina Begum, S.m. Mayanna
    Abstract:

Cr–P is a new material of great importance as a Decorative Coating with nickel in automobile industries. Electroless plating of Cr–P alloy has been carried out using a suitable plating bath solution and working conditions. The deposit is characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and polarization techniques. New phases appear on heat treatment of the Coating. The composition (Cr/P) of the Coating and the oxidation states of alloying elements vary from the surface to the bulk of the material. The Coatings acted as a novel electrode material with good electrocatalytic activity (low overvoltage) and good corrosion resistance for anodic oxidation of methanol in H2SO4 at normal working temperature. The good corrosion resistance of the Cr–P film is accounted for by the existence of a double oxyhydroxide passive film on the surface. The electrocatalytic activity of Cr–P is very high when compared with chromium alone.

  • Development and characterisation of electroless Cr–P alloy as a Decorative Coating for automobiles
    Surface Engineering, 2005
    Co-Authors: A. R. Shashikala, C N Tharamani, R. Uma Rani, Arundhati Sharma, S.m. Mayanna
    Abstract:

Abstract Electroless plating of Cr–P alloy as a Decorative Coating from acidic solution (pH 3·0) containing Cr2(SO4)3.6H2O, KSCN, glycine and NaH2PO2 was studied at 303 K to evaluate it as a novel technique for finishing of components. Spectral studies of the plating bath solution indicated the complexation of Cr3+ with KSCN and glycine. The action of these complexing agents was synergistic in nature, giving good quality Coating with a high deposition rate. X-ray and SEM studies revealed that Cr–P was partially crystalline and uniformly distributed on the substrate. The percentage of crystallinity and type of crystal planes appeared to vary with the nature of the complexing agent used. The resistance of the Coating towards corrosive media was related to the microstructure and the composition of the alloy. The developed procedure is simple, ecofriendly and economically viable.

  • Nanocrystalline titanium nitride films prepared by electrophoretic deposition
    Surface and Coatings Technology, 2009
Co-Authors: Xiaoli Cui, Paul K. Chu
    Abstract:

Abstract Homogeneous and adhesive nanocrystalline TiN thin films are fabricated on Ti substrates by electrophoretic deposition in an aqueous suspension containing TiN powders at room temperature. X-ray diffraction confirms the formation of TiN films and the film color varies with deposition time. The current–time curves are recorded during deposition and the surface morphology and cross-sectional images are investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The film thickness is around 6.1 μm after 10 min deposition and increases with deposition time . The adhesion strength is characterized by the ultrasonic vibration method and peel-off test. Our results suggest that electrophoretic deposition is a practical and facile technique to prepare nanocrystalline TiN films that are particularly suitable for the Decorative Coating industry.
