  • Wideband antenna for microwave imaging
    2014
Co-Authors: Roshayati Yahya, Muhammad Ramlee Kamarudin, Norhudah Seman
    Abstract:

A robust antenna which designed on fully textile material is presented. A Denim Jean textile is used as the dielectric substrate while the radiating elements are using conductive shieldit super textile. The simulated operating bandwidth of the antenna is 4540MHz with maximum-10 dB reflection coefficient magnitudes of 1.46-6 GHz. The antenna has bi-directional radiation pattern and provides simulated gain values that fluctuate between 1.5 to 7 dBi at the entire frequency range. This antenna which operates in the mentioned wideband frequency is highly acceptable for microwave imaging application. In addition, the capability of the textile material to be formed into flexible shape such as bending will be an advantage of its use in flexible microwave imaging purpose.

  • Investigation on CPW koch antenna durability for microwave imaging
    2013
Co-Authors: Roshayati Yahya, Norhudah Seman, Muhammad Ramlee Kamarudin, M. I. Sabran, Mohd Faizal Jamlos
    Abstract:

In this paper, the investigation on the durability of Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) Koch antenna is presented. Increasing demands in the use of flexible antenna makes the fabric material being concerned. This antenna is made of fully fabric material. The radiating element is made of pure copper fabric and patched onto a Denim Jean substrate with relative permittivity, er ≈ 2.3. The antenna is measured on the conditions of crumpled, ironed, wetted, washed, and dried for durability investigation. It produces very well performance results for all conditions except after it is washed. In washed condition, the return loss value decreases to −7.83dB. It is due to the high water content in the substrate which is influencing the originality of the substrate’s permittivity value. Thus, it leads to the decreases of antenna’s performance. However, the return loss value is still accepted for the fabric based antenna in wideband applications. Therefore, the durability of the antenna to maintain its wideband frequency characteristic in various conditions makes it has high potential to be implemented into microwave imaging application.

  • Parametric study of the position of textile dipole antenna with textile artificial magnetic conductor
2012 Asia Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings, 2012
    Co-Authors: M. A. Abdullah, M. E. Jalil, Mohamad Kamal A. Rahim, Norhudah Seman
    Abstract:

This paper presents a 5.8GHz textile dipole antenna and textile artificial magnetic conductor (AMC). Designs, dipole antenna and AMC are using Denim Jeans as the substrate. The Denim Jean has 1.67 dielectric constant, 0.67mm of thickness and 0.0019 of loss tangent. Simulation and measurement results with different position of textile dipole antenna are compared to validate the performance of the AMC.

  • Have a seat : An exploration of the typical pair of Jeans within construction and expression based on the sitting body. Focusing on the question “are you your legs?
Högskolan i Borås Akademin för textil teknik och ekonomi, 2017
    Co-Authors: Linderoth Louise
    Abstract:

This work investigates the typical Denim Jean in a sitting position with a focus on serving several possible answers to the question ”are you your legs?”. By exploring both the constructional, preconceptional and expressional possibilities within a pair of Jeans, a method of using the waist-line and hem-line as measurement-points is found. The purpose of this study is to investigate the way of wearing Jeans in a static seated position. Trough the years mainly the standing body has been used as base to create clothes. Only a few construction- and design-methods has been seen based on a sitting body. By challenging the narrow frame of Jeans in both construction and expression, a range of innovative examples are found. Trough keeping and exaggerating the typical Jean-details such as stitchings, pockets and flys, the Jeans are still recognizable as the typical pair of Jeans and the focus on distortion and challenging of a pair of Jeans in relation to the sitting body is clear. By using the sitting body as base in both construction and design develpoing the limit is pushed further in questioning what a body is, what it needs and how it could be dressed
