Response characteristic of a xenon detector searching for the WIMP as a SUSY dark matter and a possible WIMP Detection Region on the primary–secondary plot for a xenon detector
Astroparticle Physics, 2007Co-Authors: Inkyu ParkAbstract:Abstract Research and developments of a xenon weakly interactive massive particle (WIMP) searching detector have been done for a couple of decades. The weakness of signal amplitudes gives some difficulties to increase the Detection efficiency. We brief a possible primary signal amplification method with an internal photo cathode and the secondary amplification method with electroluminescence technique. Using those methods, we achieved 1.8 × 102 ± 40 times amplification ratio for a primary scintillation and 4.3 × 10 ± 5 times amplification ratio for a secondary one. It will maximize the efficiency of a xenon detector to search for the super-symmetric dark matter, WIMP. Also we describe the response characteristics of a xenon detector that is exposed by cosmic ray on the ground level. We describe the possible Detection Region for a WIMP signal in the primary–secondary plot. We will show a possible WIMP signal detected by xenon detector. Here we also remind the detailed working mechanism of a xenon detector searching for the WIMP dark matter.

Nonlinear Control for Tracking and Obstacle Avoidance of a Wheeled Mobile Robot With Nonholonomic Constraint
IEEE Transactions on Control Systems and Technology, 2016Co-Authors: Hongjiu Yang, Xiaozhao Fan, Peng Shi, Changchun HuaAbstract:This brief presents a novel control scheme for some problems on tracking and obstacle avoidance of a wheeled mobile robot with nonholonomic constraint. An extended state observer is introduced to estimate the unknown disturbances and velocity information of the wheeled mobile robot. A nonlinear controller is designed to achieve tracking target and obstacle avoidance in complex environments. Note that tracking errors converge to a residual set outside the obstacle Detection Region. Moreover, the obstacle avoidance is also guaranteed inside the obstacle Detection Region. Simulation results are given to verify the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed design scheme.

Vehicle Detection and tracking algorithm based video for freeway
Journal of Computer Applications, 2006Co-Authors: Cao Jiang-zhong, Xinyue IntelligentAbstract:To reduce the blindness in tracking and improve the speed of performance and the correct rate,a new algorithm for vehicle Detection and tracking was presented. In the algorithm, the background was updated with a new method based pixel and the Detection Region is divided into two parts: vehicle Detection Region and vehicle tracking Region. The objects tracked were constructed in the vehicle Detection Region and only tracked in the vehicle tracking Region through their previous states. The video detectors based on the algorithm have been used to collect traffic parameters, and experimental results show that the correct rates of vehicle Detection and vehicle tracking are respectively large than 96% and 97%.

Measuring absolute number concentrations of nanoparticles using single-particle tracking
Physical Review E, 2011Co-Authors: Magnus Röding, Kevin Braeckmans, Hendrik Deschout, Mats RudemoAbstract:Single-particle tracking (SPT) microscopy is increasingly used to characterize nanoparticulate systems. We introduce a concept for estimation of particle number concentration in Brownian particle dispersions using SPT based on a model for the trajectory length distribution of particles to estimate the Detection Region volume. The resulting method is independent of precalibration reference measurements, and robust with respect to image processing settings. Experimentally estimated concentrations of different dilutions of 0.19- and 0.52-mu m polymer nanospheres are in excellent agreement with estimates computed from the concentrations of the stock solutions.

Spatially Confined UHF RFID Detection With a Metamaterial Grid
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2014Co-Authors: Tiago A. Morgado, Jorge M. Alves, João S. Marcos, Stanislav I. Maslovski, Jorge R. Costa, Carlos A. Fernandes, Mário G. SilveirinhaAbstract:The confinement of the Detection Region is one of the most challenging issues in Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems. Here, we propose a new paradigm to confine the interrogation zone of standard UHF RFID systems. Our approach relies on the use of an all-planar metamaterial wire grid to block the radiation field (i.e., the far-field) of the reader antenna, and thereby obtain a spatially well-confined Detection Region in the near-field. This solution is analytically and numerically investigated, and then experimentally verified through near-field and tag-reading measurements, demonstrating its effectiveness and robustness under external perturbations.
