Práce bude sledovat vývoj zpravodajských praktik ve Spojených státech, se zaměřením na selhání které nastali před a počas září 2001. Následně rozebere reformní zákon Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act z roku 2004 a zhodnotí, jestli napravil tato selhání a vylepšil tím kontrateroristické opatření v kontextu Spojených států, a teda i mezinárodně. Práce by měla poskytnout odpovědi na nasledující otázky: Byl zákon IRTPA vhodnou reakcí na teroristické útoky v září 2001? Jaký byl jeho dopad na americkou zpravodajskou komunitu?The purpose of this thesis will be to identify the failures and shortcomings of the US Intelligence community which allowed the 9/11 terrorist attacks to take place, and analyze whether the subsequent Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 managed to address them appropriately. The paper will examine the Development of Intelligence practices in the USA, focusing on the failures that occurred before and during 9/11, and analyze the appositeness of the 2004 reform for fixing these failures and improving counter-terrorism measures in the US and internationally. Towards the end, it should provide answers to the following questions: Was the IRTPA a suitable response to 9/11? How did it affect the American Intelligence community

Developmental Science, 2009Co-Authors: Fiona Michel, M AndersonAbstract:A number of authors have proposed models of cognitive Development that explain improvements in Intelligence over the course of childhood via changes in the efficiency of inhibitory processes (Anderson, 2001; Bjorklund & Harnishfeger, 1990; Dempster, 1991, 1992; Dempster & Corkill, 1999a; Harnishfeger, 1995; Harnishfeger & Bjorklund, 1993). A review of the literature reveals little empirical support for the thesis. This is largely due to a failure to distinguish between age-related and non-age-related changes in both inhibitory ability and Intelligence. Empirical evidence is presented from a Developmental study employing the antisaccade task to provide support for the role of inhibitory processes in the Development of Intelligence. Additionally, a case is made for a functional difference underlying antisaccade errors that are subsequently corrected and those that remain uncorrected.

Robotics and Development of Intellectual Abilities in Children

Genetic and Environmental Influences on the Development of Intelligence

BoomsmaAbstract:Measures of Intelligence were collected in 209 twin pairs at 5, 7, 10, and 12 years of age, as part of a longitudinal project on Intelligence, brain function, and behavioral problems. Intelligence was measured at 5, 7, and 10 years of age with the RAKIT, a well-known Dutch Intelligence test, consisting of 6 subscales. At 12 years of age, the complete WISC-R was administered (12 subscales). Both Intelligence tests resulted in a measure of full-scale IQ (FSIQ). Participation rate is around 93% at age 12. Correlation coefficients over time are high: (r(5–7) = .65; r(5–10) = .65; r(5–12) = .64; r(7–10) = .72; r(7–12) = .69 and r(10–12) = .78). Genetic analyses show significant heritabilities at all ages, with the expected increase of genetic influences and decrease of shared environmental influences over the years. Genetic influences seem to be the main driving force behind continuity in general cognitive ability, represented by a common factor influencing FSIQ at all ages. Shared environmental influences are responsible for stability as well as change in the Development of cognitive abilities, represented by a common factor influencing FSIQ at all ages and age-specific influences, respectively.
