    Abstract:

    This study aims to do the machining process, measure runout using Dial Indicator on vertical pump shaft and examine one-way anova to see the effect of angles shaft circle section on the result of runout measurement on the pump shaft. The shaft of vertical pump was produced by a lathe machine. Calculating values the cutting speed, calculating points the theoretical machining time, and measuring grade the runout using Dial Indicator at the angle 0o, 90o, 180o, and 270o with 10 points of measurement. The results of measurement of runout are carried out one-way ANOVA to see the effect of angles on average runout value. The results of measurement showed at the points of A, B, C, G, I, and J describing the value of runout exceeds level of permitted tolerance but the runout values at the point D, E, F, and H showed the value accepted because they were in below  of the tolerable allowance. The one-way ANOVA show that the average runout value at four cross section angles of the pump shaft were the same. The value at different pump shaft cross section angles did not show an effect on average runout value produced

    Abstract:

    Dalam proses pemesinan di dunia industri mesin perkakas bubut mempunyai ketelitian untuk menghasilkan produk yang sesuai dengan kualitas yang di rencanakan. Salah satu karakteristik geometri yang penting dalam proses pembubutan seperti kekasaran suatu permukaan produk. Dalam tugas akhir ini bertujuan mengetahui ketelitian geometri mesin perkakas bubut yang memenuhi standar ISO 1708 terdiri dari ketelitian kelurusan gerak carriage, kesejajaran gerak carriage terhadap spindel, run outdan pengaruh penyimpangan yang terjadi terhadap produk. Penelitian ini melakukan pungukuran ketelitian geometri pada tiga mesin bubut yang berbeda menggunakan alat ukur Dial Indicator. Hasil yang didapat setelah melakukan pengujian yaitu penyimpangan yang terjadi pada mesin A, B dan C sudah melewati standar ISO dengan nilai penyimpangan mesin A lebih kecil di bandingkan mesin B dan C, dengan hal ini hasil pengujian menunjukkan mesin A lebih baik dibandingkan mein B dan C. Telah dilakukan pengukuran kekasaran permukaan produk yang dihasilkan mesin A mempunyai nilai kekasaran lebih kecil di bandingkan nilai kekasaran produk yang dihasilkan mesin B dan mesin C.     Abstract:

    Proses bubut (turning) merupakan suatu proses pemesinan untuk membuat suatu produk berbentuk silindris dengan material logam. Salah satu komponen mesin bubut yang mempengaruhi kualitas geometri produk yaitu pahat. Pada proses pemotongan dengan mesin bubut, pahat potong memiliki tiga buah gaya yaitu yaitu gaya potong, gaya raDial (F R ), dan gaya makan (F ). Besarnya gaya potong (F T L ) pahat dapat dihitung dari defleksi pahat mengggunakan alat ukur Dial Indicator dan perhitungan empirik. Untuk mengetahui kualitas geometri produk dilakukan pengukuran kekasaran permukaan pada benda kerja. Material benda kerja menggunakan ST 37 dan pahat jenis HSS (High Speed Steel). Proses pembubutan dilakukan dengan media pendingin (coolant) dan tanpa pendingin (no coolant). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengukuran defleksi dengan coolant didapatkan defleksi pahat lebih kecil dibandingan no coolant. Dengan sudut potong utama (κ ) yang kecil maka defleksi pahat didapat semakin kecil. Semakin besar sudut potong dan kedalaman potong (a) maka gaya potong semakin besar. Dari perhitungan secara exsperimen dan perhitungan empirik yang dilakukan, hasil perhitungan empirik lebih kecil dibandingkan perhitungan gaya potong pahat HSS hasil pengukuran defleksi pahat bubut.     Abstract:

    Milling konvensional merupakan mesin yang mampu mengerjakan suatu benda kerja dalam permukaan datar, sisi tegak, miring, bahkan alur roda gigi. Mesin milling konvensional prinsip kerjanya berasal dari energi listrik yang diubah menjadi gerak utama oleh sebuah motor listrik, selanjutnya gerakan utama tersebut akan diteruskan melalui suatu transmisi untuk menghasilkan gerakan putar pada spindel. Pada proses pengerjaan logam menggunakan mesin milling konvensional ada beberapa parameter yang digunakan untuk mengukur kualitas hasil proses yakni kekasaran dan kerataan permukaan. Banyak faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi kualitas kekasaran dan kerataan permukaan antara jenis pahat, kedalaman pemakanan dan jenis cairan.  Sehingga muncul permasalahan yaitu bagaimana pengaruh jenis pahat, kedalaman pemakanan dan jenis cairan pendingin terhadap kekasaran dan kerataan permukaan baja ST 41. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh jenis pahat, kedalaman pemakanan dan jenis cairan pendingin terhadap kekasaran dan kerataan permukaan baja ST 41. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen. Dalam penelitian ini benda kerja yang digunakan sebanyak 27 buah, yang mendapatkan perlakuan berbeda dalam setiap proses pengerjaannya, yaitu: variasi jenis pahat (Japan, JCK, Sutton), kedalaman pemakanan (0,2 mm, 0,4 mm, 0,6 mm), dan jenis cairan pendingin (Cutting APX, Global, Kyoso). Alat yang digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat kekasaran permukaan adalah surface tester, sedangkan alat yang digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat kerataan permukaan adalah Dial Indicator. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa jenis pahat, jenis cairan dan kedalaman pemakanan berpengaruh terhadap tingkat kekasaran dan kerataan permukaan benda kerja ST 41 pada proses pengerjaan milling konvensional. Nilai kekasaran permukaan paling rendah yaitu 0,742 μm, diperoleh dengan menggunakan jenis pahat Japan, jenis cairan pendingin (Cutting APX) dan kedalaman 0,2 mm. Nilai kerataan permukaan paling rendah yaitu 0,033 mm, diperoleh dengan menggunakan jenis pahat Japan, jenis cairan pendingin (Cutting APX) dan kedalaman 0,2 mm.     Injection molding is a plastic molding process by melting the plastic material is injected into a mold. The flaw common in injection molding products such as shrinkage, warpage, flash and incompletely fillet parts. The causes of warpage caused by the injection pressure, mold temperature, melting and holding time in the injection process (Huang and Tai, 2001). Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of pressure on the occurrence of defects warpage of injection molding products and to determine appropriate pressure to obtain the optimal product of injection molding. The first step, a molding with a CNC milling machine and manufacturing softooling cooling system type conformal cooling channels. The method used is processing an image with a camera taking pictures using 14 pixels are processed using software solidwork warpage and height measurements using a Dial Indicator. This method is used for collecting data so it can be analyzed statistically and can be drawn to a conclusion. The results of the study concluded that the general increase of injection pressure makes the area the greater the warpage occurred but the warpage that occurs tends to be stable although there is optimal pressure where the pressure is the lowest warpage occurred.     Injection molding is a plastic forming process by way of melting the plastic material is injected into a mold (mold). Defects that often occur in injection molding products include a short shot (defective products less full), Sink mark (point defects such as concave on the product) flash (excess material defect at the edge of the product) and warpage (arch defects in the product). The causes of warpage is affected by the injection pressure, mold temperature, melting and holding time in the injection process (Huang and Tai, 2001). Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the defective form of cooling channels warpage of the results of injection molding products and to determine the exact shape of the cooling channels to obtain the optimal product of injection molding. The initial step of making the mold (mold) with a CNC milling machine and manufacturing of coolers with soft tooling system type of conformal cooling channels and cooling type straight line. Sooftoling system is made by mixing powdered aluminum and epoxy glue in the ratio 2: 1 channel conformal printed therein. The data collection method extents used image processing with image capture using the camera 14 pixel and processed using software solidwork so it can be analyzed statistically and for measuring cup (point arch top) used a Dial Indicator, after we got the result, niali warpage can be determined by (cup : diameter = warpage) can then be drawn to a conclusion. From the results of the study concluded that in this study the general area of greatest warpage occurs in the form of a straight cooling channel with an average of 5724,71mm and warpage smallest area to form conformal cooling channel with an average of 4427,49mm. As for the value that most large warpage occurs in the form of the conformal cooling channels, namely with an average of 0.0452 and the smallest value of warpage occurs in the form of straight cooling channel that is with an average of 0.0375.     Abstract:

    The most important characteristic factor of cutting tools is cutting ability. One of the factors that influence cutting ability of cutting tools is wear resistance. At market there are many large selection of HSS tool steel with different type and merk. One of them was HSS tool steel made in Austria and Taiwan which share the same trade mark but have significant differences at price. The research aimed to compare HSS cutting tools quality made in Austria and Taiwan consider from wear, tool life and material structure aspect. This research had done by flank wear experiment to the HSS cutting tools. The specimens were BOHLER RAPID EXTRA 1200 with 3/8 x 4” on size made in Austria and Taiwan. The work piece specimen used ST60 steel. Flank wear experiment of cutting tools had done by turning cutting tools to the work piece with four cutting speed variation like 19,99 m/min, 25,72 m/min, 26,53 m/min and 30,65 m/min that had given, then measured flank wear dimension (VB) using microscope that completed with Dial Indicator and pixel method. The result of this research showed that Austria HSS tool life which had the longest time at low cutting speed (Vc=19,99 m/min) was 100 minute (Dial Indicator) / 92,5 minute (pixel), and tool life which had the shortest time at high cutting speed (Vc=30,65 m/min) was 25 minute (Dial Indicator) / 26,5 minute (pixel). Taiwan HSS tool life which had the longest time at low cutting speed (Vc=19,99 m/min) was 87,5 minute (Dial Indicator) / 84,5 minute (pixel), and tool life which had the shortest time at high cutting speed (Vc=30,65 m/min) was 25 minute (Dial Indicator) / 22,5 minute (pixel). The conclusion of this research is that HSS cutting tool made in Austria with more expensive cost, but has higher wear resistance and longer tool life than HSS cutting tool made in Taiwan

    The cutting tools is main tools at machining process besides turning machine and workpiece. Commonly, HSS (High Speed Steel) and Carbide is the popular cutting tools that used. HSS is cutting tools that most used in medium manufacturing and based on workpiece. There are 3 country that produce HSS cutting tools with different price, HSS BOHLER type Molybdenum is most expensive and HSS BOHLER type Cold work tools steel is cheapest. Based on the fact, there are one question why they have different price. This research use flank wear experiment to the HSS cutting tools to define ratio wear resistance to flank wear . The specimens were BOHLER RAPID EXTRA 1200 with 3/8 x 4” on size type Molybdenum and Cold work tool steel. The workpiece specimen used ST40 steel. Flank wear experiment of cutting tools had done by turning cutting tools to workpiece with cutting parameters that had given, then measured flank wear dimension (VB) using microscope that completed with Dial Indicator and pixel method. The result showed that MolybdenumHSS cutting tool with more expensive but higher wear resistance and tool life its more time from Cold work tool steel HSS cutting tool. Wear rate flank wear cutting tool increase with more cutting speed. Wear rate flank wear is slower than Cold work tool steel HSS. With more hardeness and carbide composition make cutting tool from HSS type Molybdenum more resistance than type Cold work tool steel HSS, so that HSS type Molybdenum have more tool live longer than HSS type Cold work tool steel
