  • Distributed Energy generation and sustainable development
Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2006
    Co-Authors: Kari Alanne, Arto Saari
    Abstract:

Conventionally, power plants have been large, centralized units. A new trend is developing toward Distributed Energy generation, which means that Energy conversion units are situated close to Energy consumers, and large units are substituted by smaller ones. A Distributed Energy system is an efficient, reliable and environmentally friendly alternative to the traditional Energy system. In this article, we will first discuss the definitions of a Distributed Energy system. Then we will evaluate political, economic, social, and technological dimensions associated with regional Energy systems on the basis of the degree of decentralization. Finally, we will deal with the characteristics of a Distributed Energy system in the context of sustainability. This article concludes that a Distributed Energy system is a good option with respect to sustainable development.

  • Recent Trends in Load Forecasting Technology for the Operation Optimization of Distributed Energy System
    Energies, 2017
Co-Authors: Xue Tian, Yan Wang, Shuai Deng, Jun Zhao, Yongzhen Wang
    Abstract:

The introduction of renewable resources into the Distributed Energy system has challenged the operation optimization of the Distributed Energy system. Integration of new technologies and diversified characteristics on the demand side has exerted a great influence on the Distributed Energy system. In this paper, by way of literature review, first, the topological structure and the mathematical expression of the Distributed Energy system were summarized, and the trend of enrichment and diversification and the new characteristics of the system were evaluated. Then, the load forecasting technology was reviewed and analyzed from two aspects, fundamental research and application research. Research methods of the Distributed Energy system under the new trend of energies were discussed, and the boundaries of the broadened Distributed Energy technology were explored.

  • Overall review of Distributed Energy development in China: Status quo, barriers and solutions
Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2015
Co-Authors: Zeng Ming, Ouyang Shaojie, Shi Hui, Ge Yujian, Qian Qiqi
    Abstract:

Abstract As a good power supplement form of super power and large-scale Energy base, Distributed Energy has the characteristics of less investment and flexible power generation. Facing with the double pressure of the sustainable development of Energy use and environmental protection, it has become an efficient solution to meet the demand of load growth, reduce environmental pollution and improve the comprehensive utilization of Energy and the reliability of power supply. However, the development of Distributed Energy starts relatively late in China and confronts many difficulties. So this paper analyzes the present development situation and existing problems of the Distributed Energy in China. Then it elaborates from the aspects of policies and regulations, technical specifications, price policy and grid-interconnection codes. At last, this paper puts forward relevant policy suggestions of the guarantee mechanism of Distributed Energy. This paper argues that, with the attention of the development of Distributed Energy increasing, a series of policies to promote the construction and interconnection of Distributed Energy will be introduced, and Distributed Energy will get scaled development in China.

  • Operation and control strategies of integrated Distributed Energy resources: A review
Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2015
Co-Authors: Hasimah A. Rahman, Md Shah Majid, Gan Chin Kim, Ahmad Rezaee Jordehi, Mohammad Yusri Hassan, Saeed O. Fadhl
    Abstract:

Abstract Integrated Distributed Energy resources play a crucial role in modernized power systems. They can decrease emissions, decrease the resistive losses and add to the security and reliability of electric networks. They can be of different nature and may contain fossil-fuelled generating units, wind units, fuel cells, storage devices and solar panels. In this article, first different Distributed Energy resources are introduced briefly, then, the operation and control strategies of integrated Distributed Energy resources will be reviewed. The review of existing research works in this field and finding the research gaps can lead to useful directions for future researchers who are interested to work in this field.
