Journal of Environmental Monitoring, 2006Co-Authors: Erini Yuwatini, Noriko Hata, Shigeru TaguchiAbstract:The behavior of di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) discharged from Domestic Waste Water into river Water, sediment and submerged aquatic vegetation was investigated. The concentrations of DEHP were found to be between 8-25 microg L(-1) in river Water, 1,000-2,000 microg kg(-1) in sediment and less than 20-2,000 microg kg(-1) in submerged aquatic vegetation. The experiments performed in laboratory were on the biodegradation of DEHP in Water and sediment, and also adsorption equilibrium of DEHP between Water and sediment. The results obtained from the investigations made it clear that the high enrichment of DEHP from Water to sediment was caused from not only its high adsorptive potential but also slow degradation in sediment.

'Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria', 2019Co-Authors: Granados Gave, Henry ManuelAbstract:The present study is of paramount importance for the science of environmental engineering where the scientific theoretical bases as well as the practices of the study lead us that the treatment of sludge contains essential elements for the flora (vegetal life) that contains chemical elements indispensable for the chain of plant life such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and abundant organic matter are these elements useful and primordial in the development of high Andean ecosystems. Also, its use is important for the conditioning and improvement of the soils that exist in this company. The possible results obtained by the microbiological analyzes (helminths) will be carried out in laboratory J, Ramón del Perú SAC certified by the competent entity in order to obtain real, truthful and reliable data in our final report. We will also find non-permissible limit values that cause a harmful effect on the contamination of soil, Water, air, animals, plants and man which harm the environment. The use of sludge as composting will be very useful for the purposes of progressive closure and final closure of the mine, because we will allow us to take full advantage of organic fertilizers such as nutritional balance in improving the quality of soils. Likewise, environmental remediation costs will be reduced in the final closure of the mine. It will also allow and contribute to avoid overloading of landfills by using this type of material of great importance in the present study related to the environment. The results of the sludge from the Domestic WasteWater treatment plant to be obtained in the present study will be of great utility for the mining company whose main factors will be the improvement based on the quality of the soils of said company, this will benefit the and we will also provide basic methodologies for further studies. Keywords: Drying bed, Domestic Waste Water treatment, sludge, environment.
Energy and Buildings, 2013Co-Authors: Aonghus Mcnabola, Killian ShieldsAbstract:Abstract Much of the energy utilised in Domestic Water heating is Wasted to the drainage system by applications such showers, baths, dishwashers etc. The recovery of this Waste heat from Domestic Waste Water flows has been shown to be a viable method of improving the energy efficiency of buildings. However, many existing systems only operate satisfactorily when the heat exchanger is in a vertical orientation due to the nature of Waste Water flow within drain pipes. This orientation requirement presents a barrier to the full scale implementation of this technology as many dwellings may not have sufficient space to accommodate a vertical heat exchanger in their Waste drainage system. This paper outlines the development and analysis of a horizontal drain Water heat recovery system for Domestic showers. The results of the investigation show that it is possible to recover energy from horizontal shower drains using a drain Water heat recovery device at a satisfactory level of efficiency. The results also demonstrate that such a system may be economically viable depending on a number or external factors. The implementation of this technology on a national level was shown to have the potential to reduce energy usage and CO2 emissions significantly.
