  • properties of surfactants on high salt affected sandy land in enhanced sand fixation salt tolerance adsorption isotherms and Ecological Effect
    RSC Advances, 2015
Co-Authors: Wei Gong, Yunxiao Zang, Hao Xie, Bailing Liu, Hualin Chen
    Abstract:

In the present paper surfactant, for the first time, was used to improve the sand fixing ability of emulsion in high salt-affected sandy land. This study started from the analysis of the main components of sand particles from Golmud sandy land, Qinghai province, China, by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Then, two surfactants, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS, an anionic surfactant) and Pluronic L35 (L35, a nonionic surfactant), were selected and used to conduct a salt tolerance test before their reaction with sand from a salty desert. The water solubilization method and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy have been adopted to investigate the salt tolerance of surfactants and their reaction with sand particles, respectively. The adsorption and adsorption characteristics of two surfactants at varied salinities by sand particles have been considered because of its significance for the interaction. In addition, the influence of SDS and L35 on the growth of Escherichia coli (E. coli) and sand microbes were evaluated to understand their Ecological Effect. The experimental results showed that SDS and L35 can visibly enhance the sand-fixing ability of the emulsion in high salt-affected sandy land. The related mechanism is that, first, SDS and L35 could improve the stability of the emulsion against the salt if the preparation of emulsion uses SDS and L35 as the emulsifying agents; second, SDS and L35 could change the morphology of salt in sand (this experimental result we will report in another paper). The investigation into the influence of SDS and L35 on the growth of E. coli and sand microbes also showed a dependable Ecological Effect.

  • Ecological Effect of rice rhizosphere microbes under water regimes and nitrogen fertilizer with split application in paddy field.
Journal of Zhejiang University Agriculture and Life Sciences, 2007
    Co-Authors: Wang Hua
    Abstract:

Study on the Ecological Effect of rice rhizosphere microbes under three water regimes and two nitrogen application levels was conducted in 2005 in pot experiment. The research results indicated that the Ecological Effect of rice rhizosphere microbes was not only affected by water regime and nitrogen fertilizer separately, but also affected by the mutual Effect of the two factors. In general, N had a dramatic Effect in the tillering stage, water regime produced little in the booting stage, during the rice riping stage, the rice was not only affected by water condition and N, but also affected by mutual influence. It was indicated N split supply has an accumulated Ecological Effect on the rice rhizosphere microbes activities, so does water factor on the soil microbes of rice rhizosphere. During the rice growth stages, the microbial biomass C content in rice rhizosphere didn't vary from the changes of enzymes in the soil.

  • Study on evaluation index system for Ecological Effect of water conservancy projects
IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2019
    Co-Authors: N Wei, J C Xie, M K Lin
    Abstract:

With the transformation from traditional water conservancy to Ecological water conservancy, functions of water conservancy projects have been changed. In addition to meeting the demand of social economy development, the protection and improvement of eco-environment should be taken into account. As the link between water use for human activities and natural water cycle, it is necessary to research on the Ecological Effect of water conservancy projects. From the perspective of whether to be affected by human activities, Ecological Effect is divided into natural Ecological Effect and social Ecological Effect, a framework of comprehensive evaluation index system for Ecological Effect is preliminarily constructed. The concept of Ecological Effect of water conservancy projects is analysed, and three-level Ecological Effects of water conservancy projects are presented. The three-level evaluation index system for Ecological Effect of water conservancy projects is built based on the hydrological regime analysis. The quantitative evaluation can be achieved. The method is applied to evaluate the Ecological Effect of large-scale water conservancy projects in the Weihe River Basin. The results show that the index system is of high applicability, which provides scientific basis for the quantitative evaluation for Ecological Effect of water conservancy projects and offers a better support to healthy development of river ecosystems.

  • analysis on the Ecological Effect of land use and land cover change lucc of the urban fringe sample zone in shanghai
    Geography and Geo-Information Science, 2006
    Co-Authors: N I Shaochun
    Abstract:

In the case of typical axial urbanization sample zone of urban fringe on the southwest of Shanghai City, the human Ecological accommodation and consumption is calculated with the Ecological footprint model, using the land use / land cover data interpreted by the RS and GIS tools from Landsat5 TM images of 1987,1995 and 2003,and some relevant socioeconomic statistic data.Based on the calculation and analysis to its results,a new method to evaluate the Ecological Effect which is caused by the human activities is put forward, educing 2 models:the Integrated Index of Regional Ecological Effect(I_(IREE)) and the Flexible Index of Regional Ecological Effect(μ_Δ).And then the comparison and dynamic analysis to the Ecological Effect in the sample zone and its urban/rural area are carried out according to the models. Some factors of the Ecological Effect in the regional urbanization are found through these quantificational spatial-temporal researches:1) the regional Ecological Effect have both the positive Effect and the negative Effect, which is a integrated concept;2) the regional Ecological Effect have a strong inertia,so the actuality in sequence of the former human improper development makes the urban eco-environment pressure unspent in the short time(μ_(Δ Sample Zone1995-2003) is still minus);3) during the 2 decades or so,the eco-environment level of the sample zone descends rapidly first(ΔI_(IREE Sample Zone1987-1995)=-0.133,μ_(Δ Sample Zone1987-1995)=(-1.537)),and then goes tardily(ΔI_(IREE Sample Zone1995-2003)=-0.011,μ_(ΔSample Zone1995-2003)=-0.013),and now presents some reversion phenomena under the influence of the human urbanization;4) the human activity of the urbanization, mainly embodied by the land use, makes the spatial differentia of the regional Ecological Effect character and intensity take place, and the new urbanization happened at present in the former urban area of the urban fringe seems to exert more positive power on the whole ecosystem than in the former rural area(the decreasing extent during 1995 to 2003 of I_(IREE urban)(-0.009) is less than I_(IREE rural)(-0.074)).
