HPV Educational lectures and a dental information toolkit on HPV were offered to OHPs in New England in 2016–2017. OHPs included dentists and dental hygienists. Post Intervention surveys were distributed 1 month later. A total of 230 participants attended the Educational lectures and received the toolkit. Descriptive statistics were used to compare the difference in knowledge and preparedness about HPV before and after the Intervention. Eighty-nine OHPs completed the surveys. The response rate was 38.7%; however, for each question, the number of responses varied. Fifty-four (54%) (n = 26) of survey respondents were between 55 and 75 years of age with 73.5% (n = 36) being female and 55% (n = 45) working in private practice. Post Intervention, 67.5% (n = 27) of the respondents felt more prepared, 82.6% (n = 38) reported clarity of their roles in educating their patients about HPV, and 91.6% (n = 44) reported an increase in knowledge about HPV. The HPV Educational Intervention was well received and successful at improving self-reported knowledge, comfort level, and preparedness of OHPs in discussing HPV with their patients. OHPs have the great opportunity to educate their patients about HPV and HPV vaccination. Further continuing education efforts may improve OHPs’ participation in HPV prevention.

Thus, we aimed to assess paramedics’ newborn life support knowledge and skills before and after targeted simulation-based training. Methods: Voluntary paramedics were recruited from a single Red Cross division. During a one-day simulation-based Educational Intervention, essential aspects of neonatal resuscitation were taught and practiced. Before and after practical training, we assessed 1) knowledge of current European Resuscitation Council (ERC) guidelines using a 20-item-questionnaire and 2) the quality of simulated bag-valve-mask ventilation by means of mask leakage, measured by a respiratory function monitor (SMART Newborn Resuscitation Training System, GM Instruments Ltd., Great Britain). Data are presented as median (minimum/maximum or interquartile range [IQR]). Analyses were performed using IBM® SPSS Statistics 22 with a significance level of p75% decreased significantly after training (15.8% versus 6.1%; p<0.001), while median mask leakage was similar (17.0% [IQR 0.0-55.0%] versus 18.0% [IQR 6.0-34.0%]; p=0.414). Conclusions: Theoretical knowledge of current ERC guidelines among paramedics was moderate in this study. Participation in a targeted simulation-based Educational Intervention led to a significant increase in theoretical knowledge. The initially already high quality of simulated ventilation was further increased after simulation-based training using respiratory function monitoring.

There was a significant increase in the number of correctly answered questions: median 62.1% (IQR 37.5–77.4%) vs. 91.7% (IQR 83.3–100%; p = 0.001). A total of 1,332 inflations were analyzed. The incidence of substantial mask leakage >75% decreased significantly after training (15.8 vs. 6.1%; p < 0.001), while median mask leakage was similar (17.0% [IQR 0.0–55.0%] vs. 18.0% [IQR 6.0–34.0%]; p = 0.414).Conclusions: Among paramedics, theoretical knowledge of current ERC guidelines was moderate in this study. Methods Patients with T2DM (n = 1,589) in 18 township health centres in three counties in Jiangsu Province were randomly divided into an Intervention group receiving Educational Intervention and follow-up visits, and a control group with standard care. Questionnaires and medical records, including FBG level and diabetes knowledge score, were compared, at baseline and follow-up. Propensity score matching and Difference-in-Difference analysis were used. Results The FBG level decreased significantly in the Intervention group compared to the control group, DID=−0.53 mmol/l, (CI95 % −0.90 to −0.16). The diabetes knowledge score increased significantly in the Intervention group compared to the control group, DID = 0.91, (CI95 % 0.64–1.18). The FBG level and diabetes knowledge score improved significantly in the Intervention group in all counties. Conclusions The Educational Intervention and increased collaboration between hospitals and primary care improved the FBG level and diabetes knowledge score in the Intervention group compared to the control group after one year. Practice implications Educational Intervention and increased collaboration between hospitals and primary care may improve diabetes care in rural China.

Several surveys of college students have found, however, a paucity of knowledge of HPV. Sexually transmitted disease education focused on human immunodeficiency virus infection has been found to be effective at improving knowledge and safe-sex behaviors, at least in the short term. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a brief HPV-focused, Educational Intervention on college students9 knowledge of HPV. METHODS Sixty physician9s assistant and psychology students were administered a questionnaire that elicited their knowledge of HPV, including prevalence, symptomatology, and complications. The participants then underwent a brief HPV-focused Educational Intervention. Three months later, the cohorts were reevaluated with the same questionnaires. RESULTS Before the Intervention, only 45% of the HPV questions were answered correctly, compared with 87% of the non-HPV items. After the Intervention, 79% of the HPV questions were answered appropriately. Physician9s assistant students performed significantly better than the psychology students on the HPV questions, but not statistically significantly better on the non-HPV related items. Women performed better than men on the non-HPV questions, but scored similarly for the HPV-related items. CONCLUSION Despite the high prevalence and serious complications associated with HPV infection, most college students know very little about HPV. Brief HPV-focused Educational Interventions, which could be readily implemented in the family physician9s office at a routine visit, were found to be effective at improving HPV knowledge, at least in the short term. More HPV education is needed, particularly for young adults. Further studies should be undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of HPV education on improving safe-sex behaviors.

Many individuals with a family history of depression are concerned about their personal risk for depression and report unmet Educational and psychological support needs. No supportive and/or Educational Interventions are currently available that target this group of individuals. In this study we will develop and evaluate the first online psycho-Educational Intervention targeted to individuals with a family history of depression. Genetic risk information and evidence-rated information on preventive strategies for depression will be provided to such individuals in a general practice setting. The Intervention will also incorporate a risk assessment tool. The content and delivery of the Intervention will be pilot-tested. The proposed Intervention will be evaluated in the general practitioner (GPs) setting, using a cluster randomized controlled trial. GP practices will be randomized to provide either access to the online, targeted psycho-Educational Intervention or brief generic information about depression (control) to eligible patients. Eligibility criteria include having at least one first-degree relative with either major depressive disorder (MDD) or bipolar disorder (BD). The primary outcome measure is 'intention to adopt, or actual adoption of, risk-reducing strategies’. Secondary outcome measures include: depression symptoms, perceived stigma of depression, knowledge of risk factors for development of depression and risk-reducing strategies, and perceived risk of developing depression or having a recurrence of family history. Over the course of the study, participants will complete online questionnaires at three time points: at baseline, and two weeks and six months after receiving the Intervention or control condition. This novel psycho-Educational Intervention will provide individuals with a family history of depression with information on evidence-based strategies for the prevention of depression, thus, we hypothesize, enabling them to make appropriate lifestyle choices and implement behaviors designed to reduce their risk for depression. The online psycho-Educational Intervention will also provide a model for similar Interventions aimed at individuals at increased familial risk for other psychiatric disorders. The study is registered with the Australian and New Zealand Clinical Trials Group (Registration no: ACTRN12613000402741 ).
