  • leadership a critical success factor for the Effective Implementation of lean six sigma
Total Quality Management & Business Excellence, 2018
    Co-Authors: Alessandro Laureani, Jiju Antony
    Abstract:

The objective of this paper is to offer further insights into Lean Six Sigma deployment, highlighting the more important critical success factors (CSFs) and particularly the role of leadership in successful deployment. Identification of CSFs for Lean Six Sigma is important as it allows organisations to focus their efforts on these factors to ensure success. The study is in two parts: the first part reviews the literature on leadership, Lean Six Sigma and CSFs for continuous improvement programmes. The second part illustrates the results of a longitudinal study through the administration of a survey questionnaire and exploratory factor analysis of the answers. The results suggest that the most important and significant factors for the Effective Implementation of Lean Six Sigma are project management, leadership, selection of top talented people and financial accountability. Although they highlight the importance of leadership as a CSF for Effective deployment of Lean Six Sigma, more research is needed to d...

  • critical success factors for the Effective Implementation of lean sigma
International Journal of Lean Six Sigma, 2012
    Co-Authors: Alessandro Laureani, Jiju Antony
    Abstract:

Purpose – Identification of critical success factors (CSFs) for any continuous improvement initiative is important as it allows organisations to focus their efforts on these factors to ensure a success. The purpose of this paper is to present the CSFs for the Effective Implementation of Lean Six Sigma and to analyze the Implementation of Lean Six Sigma, focusing on the CSFs identified in the literature, through a survey of companies, geographically dispersed, from both the manufacturing and service industry.Design/methodology/approach – The approach taken by authors in this study has two fundamental parts. The first part was to analyse the current literature on CSFs for all continuous improvement initiatives such as TQM, Lean, Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma. The second part was to design a survey questionnaire based on the literature. The questionnaire was sent to 600 companies (both manufacturing and service) and the response rate is approximately 17 per cent.Findings – Analysis of key findings highlighted...

  • key ingredients for the Effective Implementation of six sigma program
    Measuring Business Excellence, 2002
    Co-Authors: Jiju Antony, Ricardo Banuelas
    Abstract:

Six Sigma is a business strategy and a systematic methodology, use of which leads to breakthrough in profitability through quantum gains in product/service quality, customer satisfaction and productivity. The concept of implementing Six Sigma processes was pioneered at Motorola in the 1980s and the objective was to reduce the number of defects to as low as 3.4 parts per million opportunities. For the Effective Implementation of Six Sigma projects in organisations, one must understand the critical success factors that will make the application successful. This paper presents the key ingredients, which are essential for Six Sigma Implementation. These ingredients are generated from a pilot survey conducted in the UK manufacturing and service organisations.

  • Ensuring the Effective Implementation of transnational company agreements
European Journal of Industrial Relations, 2012
    Co-Authors: André Sobczak
    Abstract:

Over the past decade, a number of European companies have negotiated transnational company agreements. These agreements may help improve labour standards in the subsidiaries, and even more for those employed by subcontractors or suppliers. They may also encourage social dialogue at these levels. However, given their uncertain legal status, how it is possible to ensure their Effective Implementation throughout the company's subsidiaries? What matters is less the legal status of the transnational collective agreement than the active involvement of the various actors involved in the process. The role of the signatories to the agreement is of course crucial, but its Effective Implementation also requires the commitment of local managements and workers' representatives. This article draws on discussions and interviews with managers and worker representatives directly involved in the Implementation of transnational company agreements, and identifies ways to encourage this kind of commitment.

  • way forward in process safety management psm for Effective Implementation in process industries
Current opinion in chemical engineering, 2016
Co-Authors: Azmi Mohd Shariff, Hanida Abdul Aziz, Noor Diana Abdul Majid
    Abstract:

This paper addressed the issues in implementing Process Safety Management (PSM) as stipulated by OSHA regulations in 1992 in process industries. The purpose of PSM Implementation is to prevent major accidents such as fire, explosion and toxic release. Unfortunately, after more than 20 years of Implementation, major accidents are still occurring in process plant that is covered under the PSM standard. The issues faced by industries to implement the PSM program Effectively are thoroughly discussed. Recommendations to improve the PSM program are provided as an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to further develop the PSM system for Effective Implementation in process industries.
