    An Al-complex with 3,5-di-t-butylsalicylate ions as ligands (commercial name, E-88 from Orient Chemical Industries, LTD) is a charge-control agent (CCA) used for toners in Electrophotography. The title compound is found to crystallize in a monoclinic system, as characterized by the following crystallographic parameters: Cc, a = 19.3525(4), b = 35.4460(4), c = 27.9608(7)Å, β = 110.1240(10)˚, Z = 4, V = 18009.3(6)Å~{3}. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined by full-matrix least squares on F^{2} to final values of R1 = 0.1589 and wR2 = 0.4128

The two dimers A and B are characterized by a step between the least-squares planes of the naphthalene atoms of 0.85 and 2.30 A ˚ . Further O—H・・・O bonds link the dimers into a two-dimensional network propagating in (110) such that dimer A is hydrogen-bonded to four B units and vice versa.     n-Propyl gallate (PG) is a charge-control agent used for toners in Electrophotography, and shows pseudo-polymorphism. The title compound, 3C10H12O5·0.5CH2Cl2, is isostructural with the corresponding chloro­form solvate. The asymmetric unit is composed of three PG mol­ecules and a half-mol­ecule of dichloromethane, the solvent being disordered over an inversion centre. There are intra- and inter­molecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional hydrogen-bond network in the (421) plane.
