study on the material characteristic and Process parameters of the open die warm Extrusion Process of spline shaft with 42crmo steel
Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2013Co-Authors: Yong-yi Li, Shengdun ZhaoAbstract:Abstract The principle and deformation characteristic of the traditional open-die Extrusion Process of spline shaft are analyzed firstly, and then a novel open-die warm Extrusion Process of spline shaft with 42CrMo steel is proposed to solve the Process problems such as high forming loads, poor material plasticity and tooth filled quality. Next, the material characteristic of 42CrMo steel during the warm forming Process is investigated through the isothermal compression tests, the microstructure with tempered sorbite and high accuracy constitutive equations of 42CrMo steel are obtained. Besides, the effects of the main Process parameters on the forming loads and tooth filled quality during the open-die warm Extrusion Process are studied, the optimum die angle of entrance section and warm forming temperature are established as 20 °C and 650 °C, respectively. Finally, the relevant improvement of tooth divided flow method (TDFM) is employed to eliminate the negative effects of the large blank diameter on this novel Process.

analysis of quality of bimetallic rod after Extrusion Process
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2006Co-Authors: S Berski, H Dyja, Andrzej Maranda, Jerzy Nowaczewski, G BanaszekAbstract:Abstract In this article, an analysis of Extrusion Process of bimetallic rod is presented. Cylindrical, two-layered rod made by explosive cladding of the aluminium rod (1050A) and copper pipe (M1E) with appropriate chosen geometry was treated as a charge in the analysed Process. In the work an influence of die shape and Extrusion ratio on a charge yield in the Process was investigated. Theoretical analysis was prepared using commercial package Forge2 ® based on FEM. Theoretical studies were verified by experimental analysis prepared in the Institute of Modelling and Automation of Plastic Working Processes.

Research on Metal Flow Behavior and Forming Force in Sheet Metal Extrusion Process
2010 International Conference on Computing Control and Industrial Engineering, 2010Co-Authors: Xin Cun Zhuang, Hua Xiang, Zhen ZhaoAbstract:With increasing requirement of functional 3D parts in automobile industry, sheet metal Extrusion Process has been widely used, but without enough know-how. In this paper, a reasonable FEM model of sheet metal Extrusion Process was established and validated by comparing the results of simulation and experiment firstly. Based on the reliable model, some characteristics about metal flow behavior and the corresponding forming force were analyzed and concluded. The work presented in this paper can be used as a theoretical foundation for the design of sheet metal Extrusion Process.

Some Phenomenological Characteristics of Medium-Thick Sheet Metal Extrusion Process
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2009Co-Authors: Xin Cun Zhuang, Hua Xiang, Zhen ZhaoAbstract:The medium-thick sheet metal Extrusion has been a typical bulk forming feature used in the sheet metal forming industry while there isn’t enough know-how available. Therefore, the sheet metal Extrusion Process was simulated in this study by using an arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) finite element method implemented in MSC. Marc. Firstly, the simulation results are compared with experimental data from a reference to verify the usefulness of the simulation. Then, based on the simulation results, some phenomenological characteristics of the sheet metal Extrusion Process, such as the material flow, shrinkage cavity and the effect of area reduction on the forming force, are present. The work presented in this paper might be used for as design fundamental of the sheet metal Extrusion Process.
