    Zootaxa, 2019
Co-Authors: Behrouz Golhasan, Ramin Heydari, Reyes Penasantiago
    Abstract:

A new species of the genus Tylencholaimus , collected in natural areas of Iran, is described and illustrated, including SEM observations. Tylencholaimus discus sp. n. is characterized by its 0.65–0.76 mm long body, lip region offset by weak constriction and 7–7.5 µm broad with a conspicuous perioral disc, odontostyle 6–7 µm long, odontophore 9–10.5 µm long and visibly flanged rather than knobbed, neck 230–259 µm long with anterior region weakly muscular and basal expansion 98–125 µm long or occupying 42–49% of total neck length, Female Genital System mono-prodelphic, posterior branch reduced to a uterine sac 2–20 µm long or much shorter (0.1–0.6 times) than body diameter but very occasionally consisting of uterus, sphincter and a small terminal mass all together measuring 35–40 µm long, V = 65–74, tail short and rounded (13–17 µm, c = 41–57, c’ = 0.6–0.8), and male unknown.

  • redescription of three italian species of labronema thorne 1939 dorylaimida dorylaimidae
    Nematology, 2019
Co-Authors: Reyes Penasantiago, Maria Teresa Vinciguerra
    Abstract:

This contribution presents a redescription of three Labronema species originally described from Italy: L. angeloi, L. carusoi and L. pulchrum. Their type material is re-examined, described and illustrated with line drawings and micrographs. New information about these species is provided, including morphometrics and relevant morphological features. Morphologically, the three species form a homogeneous group, but can be separated by significant differences in the structure of Female Genital System, cuticle thickness on the tail, and shape and size of the spicules. Labronema pulchrum is regarded as a junior synonym of L. duhouxi.

  • taxonomy of the genus labronema thorne 1939 nematoda dorylaimida dorylaimidae with redescription of its type species l ferox thorne 1939
    Nematology, 2019
    Co-Authors: Reyes Penasantiago
    Abstract:

Labronema ferox is redescribed on the basis of two Females and four males from the USA. It is characterised by its 2.90-4.45 mm long body, lip region offset by deep constriction, 31-39  μ m broad and slightly sucker-like with distinctly protruding perioral liplets, odontostyle 34-37  μ m long with aperture occupying 37-42% its length, neck 673-883  μ m long, pharyngeal expansion occupying 48-52% of total neck length, Female Genital System didelphic-amphidelphic, uterus long and complex, including an intermediate pars musculosa , vulva longitudinal (V = 51-54), caudal region short and rounded (27-39  μ m, c = 93-135, c′=0.6-0.8), spicules 76-89  μ m long, and 20-25 nearly contiguous ventromedian supplements with an hiatus. Previous information about the species is analysed and discussed in the light of the present redescription. A new name, Labronemella zullinii sp. n., is proposed for the two Females from Nepal described by Zullini in 1973. This new characterisation of L. ferox lays the foundations to study the taxonomy of the genus in more detail.

  • nematodes of the order dorylaimida from romania two interesting species of the subfamily qudsianematinae jairajpuri 1965
    Russian Journal of Nematology, 2010
Co-Authors: Marcel Ciobanu, Iuliana Popovici, Reyes Penasantiago
    Abstract:

Two known species of the nematode family Qudsianematidae were studied on the basis of material collected from natural habitats in Romania. Two populations of Labronema carusoi are compared to the original description, with new observations that allow a better characterisation of this taxon, especially those referring the morphology of lip region and Female Genital System. The Female of Labronemella labiata is reported and described for the first time. Descriptions, measurements, illustrations, including LM pictures for both species and SEM pictures for L. carusoi, are provided. Data concerning the occurrence of the species in Romania are also given.

    Co-Authors: Nguyen D., Ahmad W., Vu T. T., PeÑa-santiago R.
    Abstract:

Thornedia opisthodelphisfrom a natural forest in northern Vietnam is described and illustrated. It is characterized by its body 0.50-0.57 mm long, lip region almost continuous and 5 μm broad, odontostyle attenuate and 21 μm long or 4.2 times the lip region width, odontophore linear, neck 148-155 μm long, pharyngeal expansion 38-45 μm long or 25-29% of total neck length, Female Genital System mono-opisthodelphic, prevulval sac totally absent, pars refringens vaginae also absent, V = 45-51, tail cylindrical (18-24 μm, c = 23.5-31.7, c = 1.5-2.2), and male unknown. The identity of Thornedia is discussed in depth, including a historical outline, morphological characterization and its taxonomy. Because of the tylencholaimid cuticle and short pharyngeal expansion, it is transferred from Nordiidae to Leptonchidae. An emended diagnosis as well as a compendium of their species are also provided
