TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by sol-gel method using titanium tetraisopropoxide. The size of TiO2 nanoparticles was characterized using transmission electron microscope (TEM). The application of nano TiO2 onto cellulosic fabrics (cotton 100%) was achieved in presence of polycarboxylic acid [1,2,3,4-butane tetracarboxylic acid (BTCA)] with sodium hypophosphite (SHP) as catalyst and chitosan phosphate through conventional pad-dry-cure method. The effect of the Finishing on the physical properties, flammability and antibacterial properties of cross-linked fabrics are investigated. Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) was employed to investigate the thermal decomposition behaviour of the treated samples. Cellulose, 2011Co-Authors: C W M YuenAbstract:Cotton fabrics were treated with oxygen plasma gas and/or wrinkle-resistant Finishing Agent with polycarboxylic acid. The results of wicking rate, contact angle and wettability tests revealed that the atmospheric plasma treatment significantly improved hydrophilicity of cotton fiber. Such improvement greatly enhances the effectiveness of post-Finishing processes. The study showed that chemical composition of cotton fabric surface changed after plasma and wrinkle-resistant treatment. Chemical composition of surface of treated cotton specimens was evaluated with different characterization methods, namely, FTIR-ATR and EDX. The experimental results are thoroughly discussed.

Antibacterial functionalization of cotton and polyester fabrics with a Finishing Agent based on silver-doped calcium phosphate powders:

Therefore, various antibacterial finishes have already been developed for textile products. In this work an antibacterial Finishing Agent containing calcium phosphate-based silver-doped powder was developed for the functionalization of textiles and applied to 100% cotton and 100% polyester knitted fabric samples. Firstly, silver-doped antibacterial powder was synthesized by using a wet chemical method. A size reduction process was applied for reducing the particle size of the powder from micron size to submicron scale. The aqueous dispersion was stabilized by coating the powder surfaces with polyethylene glycol. In order to obtain laundering durability, an aqueous emulsion of an acrylic copolymer was added to the antibacterial solution. The resultant product was applied to all fabric samples by a conventional pad-dry-cure method. The treated fabrics were washed 20 times and the antibacterial efficiency was evaluated after each 10...

To see the effect of antibacterial Finishing on the physical properties of fabrics, the bursting strength, air permeability and color efficiency of the treated and untreated samples were measured and compared. It was found that the antibacterial solution did not affect significantly the bursting strength and color efficiency values of the fabrics, while air permeability was decreased. On the other hand, treated fabric samples preserved their strong antibacterial activities against E. coli after 20 laundry cycles.

Study on synthesis and application properties on cotton fabics of crease resistant waterborne polyurethane Finishing Agent
Textile Auxiliaries, 2020Co-Authors: Zhu QuanAbstract:A series crease resistant waterborne polyurethane Finishing Agents were synthesized using hexamethylene diisocyanate(HDI),toluene diisocyanate(TDI),poly 1,4-butylene adipate(PBA),polypropylene oxide glycol(PPG),dimethylolpropionic acid(DMPA) and N-methyl diethanolamine(N-MDEA) as main materials.The effects of the Finishing Agent concentration,isocyanate structure,ion nature of polyurethane emulsion and polyol structure on Finishing were discussed.The results showed that the elastic recovery angle increased with the increase of Finishing Agent concentration;The Finishing effect of HDI-WPU were better than that of TDI-WPU.The Finishing effect of cation-WPU is better than that of anion-WPU;and good Finishing effect could be obtained under low mass concentration.The Finishing effect of PPG-WPU was better than PBA-WPU.

Discussion on the application of fluorinated water-repellent Agent WR-1 and crease-proofing Finishing Agent on cotton fabrics in one bath
Textile Auxiliaries, 2020Co-Authors: Zhu QuanAbstract:Cotton fabrics were finished using various crease proofing Finishing Agents with different struc-tures and self-made water-repellent Agent WR-1 in one bath.The effects of one-bath-finish on water-and oil-repellence,result of crease-proofing and mechanical properties of cotton fabrics were discussed.It was found that WR-1 could improve the cross-linking degree of resins and the effect of crease-proofing finish.Polycarboxylic acid type crease-proofing Finishing Agent had great effects on water and oil-repellency.N-hydrox-ymethyl type resin Finishing Agents had few effects on water-and oil-repellency.Resin Finishing Agent M3 and PS-14 could improve the fastness to wash of WR-1.
