    AbstractBackground: Fixed Drug eruption (FDE) is a special variant of Drug Reaction seen on skin or mucous membrane, and typically recurs at the same location. Ornidazole-induced FDE cases have been reported extremely rare.Case: The 48-year-old female patient was diagnosed for ornidazole-induced Fixed Drug Reaction on the sole. The patient’s history revealed that the lesion occurred for the third time in the last 6 months and she was administered ornidazole tablet 3 times by the gynecologist for genitourinary tract infection.Conclusion: This report presents a case of Fixed Drug Reaction located at the sole induced by ornidazole use and a literature review.

    Abstract Introduction: Nowadays, due to the widespread availability of various Drugs, adverse cutaneous Drug Reactions (ACDRs) have become very common. One type of ACDR that dermatologists encounter frequently these days is Fixed-Drug Reaction (FDR). FDR is a characteristic type of adverse cutaneous Reaction, which occurs at the same site whenever a particular Drug is taken. That is why there is a need to identify the Drugs causing FDR and to counsel the patients properly to avoid recurrence. Aim and Objective: The aim and objective was to study the demographic details, clinical patterns, and the culprit Drugs causing FDR. Setting and Design: We have conducted a cross-sectional, observational study. Materials and Methods: We have conducted an observational cross-sectional study from April 2010 to March 2018 at the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology at Shree Krishna Hospital, Pramukhswami Medical College, Karamsad, Gujarat, after taking approval from the research ethical committee of our hospital. All patients coming to the skin out patient department who were diagnosed clinically as FDRs were included in the study, irrespective of age and sex. In every case, a detailed history was elicited and proper clinical examination was carried out and it was recorded in a proforma. The data collected was analyzed using proportions, frequencies and chi-square test. All the patients were counseled and given a list of Drugs causing FDR to avoid recurrence. Results: In our study, we enrolled 78 patients of FDR in which there were 43 (55.12%) males and 35 (44.88%) females. In these patients, the most frequent condition for which the offending Drug was taken was fever (in 18 [23.08%] patients), while the most common complaint after intake of offending Drug was pigmented patch (in 32 [41.03%] patients) followed by mucosal lesions (in 20 [25.64%] patients).     Abstract:

    Context: Adverse cutaneous Drug Reactions (ACDRs) are very common due to a wide variety of Drugs available in markets. Fixed-Drug Reaction (FDR) is a type of ACDR that dermatologists are facing frequently nowadays. There is a need to identify various Drugs responsible for FDR and to ensure the safety of the patients with proper counseling. Aim and Objective: The aim and objective was to study the demographic details, clinical patterns, and the offending Drugs causing FDR. Setting and Design: This was a cross-sectional, observational study. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out from April 2010 to March 2015 in the Department of Dermatology at a rural-based tertiary care center of Gujarat, India, after taking approval from the hospital's research ethical committee. A detailed history taking and thorough clinical examination were done for all the patients having FDR and were recorded in a predesigned pro forma. Analysis was done using frequencies, proportions, and Chi-square test. All the patients were educated regarding ACDRs and given a list of Drugs causing FDR to avoid recurrence. Results: A total of 59 patients were studied for FDR among which 32 (54.23%) were males and 27 (45.76%) were females. Fever (20.34%) was the most common illness for which patients had taken the culprit Drug. Antimicrobials (26 [44.07%]) were the most common group of Drugs causing FDR followed by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory Drugs (21 [35.59%]). As a single molecule, diclofenac was the most common Drug causing FDR followed by metronidazole 5 (8.47%) and cotrimoxazole, fluconazole, and ciprofloxacin 4 (6.78%) each. The most common complaint following intake of the culprit Drug was pigmented patch (31 [52.54%]) followed by blisters (13 [22.03%]). Conclusion: FDR is one of the important ACDRs seen in patients. Antimicrobials are the most common group while diclofenac is the most common Drug causing FDR.

GBFDE has aggressive course unlike conventional FDE and requires aggressive treatment. Mucosa is usually spared and constitutional symptoms are mild. We came across two cases of GBFDE in which culprit Drugs were B-Lactam antibiotics.
